I had that Hendrix album, and as a Hendrix aficionado, its probably the best recording live that he has done, his playing was at its peak, honestly, you should check out the voodo chile on that album, he does things with the guitar in the sixties that people were just discovering years later. Jimi is definitely best when he just plays rather than messing around.

You gotta get some Muddy Waters in your life, the meanest slide player there is,not the greatest, just the meanest.

You need to look into the primal source of the blues. The people you mentioned are great players but they represent the rock type of blues mostly performed by white guys. I know Jimi is not a white guy, but he did come out of the rock side of life more than the blues. Check out the Chess record stable of stars. That's when you get the real jiuce from the blues.

Guys, i am a blues man myself, i did not sell my soul at the crossroads for a mere two dollars for nothing. this was post about electric blues, not the originators themselves.

Paul Rogers of Free and Bad Company, did an excellent album, featuring some of the worlds greatest guitarist, a tribute to Muddy waters, if i can find some of the tracks, i will post them for your delight.

i have always felt that Claptons guitar solo on the album version smacked of utter genius, a truly inspired few moments.
