I saw Star Wars tonight. It was fun enough. What the NPR reviewer called, "brilliantly unoriginal." I don't want to spoil anything so I'm limiting myself to a revelation, a comment, and a question.

Revelation: Max Van Sydow is still alive!

Comment: "Light Speed" is 186,000 miles per second. Just saying.

Question: How much did Mark Hamill get paid for that?

I was thinking of Star Wars this morning.

The alarm went off and I proclaimed in my Yoda voice, "The force Awakens!"

Then I hit the snooze and said, "But the force needs 5 more minutes"

At least the wife got a chuckle.

Well, 186,242 to be more exact🙂 Old Marcus must not have been paid very much, his net worth is 'only' 6 million. Compared to the big guys, it's chicken feed. I wouldn't mind being worth 6 mil though....

Uncle Max on the other hand, he earned 75 million this year alone, 2015, the top paid actor in the world, with a net worth of over 200 mil. Not bad for an old Swede, eh.

I wasted money on that movie last night.

It was totally unoriginal and was mildly entertaining at times, but a definite thumbs down.

I just saw Star Wars also. Pretty good movie, they need to get those old actors out, and let the younger stars shine. Ford, Hamill, and Fisher look older than dirt.

Agreed. Just crap. started out promising enough ... ended up turning into a parody almost.

Ford and Fisher had too much airtime, Hamil not enough.
Didn't recognize the 4 new young actors.

And so many more dissapointments.

So they left the door open for another one, or did I miss something?

I guess it's not disappointing to Disney, passing 1 billion in sales in 13 days!

my point exactly- you can surpass records on hype alone, it seems

I actually saw a commercial for star wars the other day. Perhaps the hype is fleeting.

That's more or less the definition of "hype", so yeah...

"Star Wars" was very disappointing. They hauled out Fisher and Ford for the nostalgia. Not good Sci Fi. No interesting statement on the human condition. At least the sequels will feature a strong young women in place of Ford. The movie is a waste of $. Wait till it comes to the local library and check it out. Read and see "The Martian". "Sisters" (Tina Fey and Amy Pohler) was a hoot. It's an updated version of "Animal House" only the cast are 40 somethings trying to revisit high school. Hilarious. "Brooklyn" is great as is the book.

Oh gosh,Disney are making more of these ...

Just re-visited Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones and just enjoyed them immensly.
Seems the big screen only counts for so much. The movie still has to be good.
