It was never passed, so it added $0 to the deficit.

EDIT: Wildgrass is correct, a fraction of student loan debt was actually forgiven.

A "whataboutism" using inflated figures that never happened. Pretty lame.
What exactly means the ubiquitous word ‘forgiven’?

We do hope that you do not intend to confuse. If I may, if I have $900 and loan you $100 I have $800 left. If you do not repay pay the $100, I am left only with the $800. I will never receive the $100 that I loaned to you.
So please tell us how the word forgive applies in this case. Of course I could say to you, my brother, I forgive you for not paying me back, and everybody is happy with our friendship. I am a Christian.

So I am left $100 short, but with an air of forgiveness for my brother.

Please? And I am not being obtuse, I am asking for a point of clarification 🙂

Classic delusion.
Mars has been proven to exist. So have spacecraft. Where is a delusion? Oh yes, and so have been billionaires, with space crafts.

Silly goose, we want tax cuts for the producers, do you not see anything? Econ 105. THEY WILL then make more success, by which we all succeed. Like the guy who invented’ intermittent windshield wipers’ He got rich, and we avoid wrecks because of him. Give a billionaire his head, he could take us to Mars!!! Oh, we got a guy already doing that. Either get his money, ...[text shortened]... let him have more.
Oh, that is not a big decision. The ‘give’ is a tax break! NOW you see!!!!
Trickle down economics has proven over and over and over and over again to be a completely bogus, made up concept.

You make a case that elves and fairies are controlling the economy, that would make more sense than what you just wrote. Nonsense.

Silly. That, you suggest the old lib position that prosperity comes from redistribution rather than production. WGrass....follow me,,,,,wealth has to be created before it can be redistributed.
Your phrase 'elves and fairies" I would easily replace with 'incentives, productivity and human behavior', to best you in this exchange.
And that slogan that critics invented during Reagan???...trickle down? That is not an argument.
When people and businesses keep more of what they earn, they invest it, they expand, hire and produce more wealth. Lord help us if we stop spending.
Your beef is that every wealthy person is not virtuous ,....nor does every policy work perfectly. But the fact remains, while you and Marauder champion Socialism, (WHICH DOES NOT WORK), economies generally grow when people are rewarded for risking And building things.

Come back down from land of the fairies.

Someone has to pay taxes, Joe. The deficit is $2 trillion.

Who should pay?

The citizens of the entity, the USA in this case, should shoulder the costs of running the entity. Surely you have an underlying point? We do that now.

This that I wrote above.... When people and businesses keep more of what they earn, they invest it, they expand, hire and produce more wealth. Lord help us if we stop spending...... This points up how people need to spend, and that includes taxes.
So, we pay the taxes. The wealthy more than do the underlings, many of whom pay NO taxes but enjoy the universal benefits (schoo hospital).which are provided by taxes paid by the well-to-do.

His intent was to pass it, and you defended him 100%...your hypocrisy astounds.

You raise taxes on everyone?

Where is that political platform?

Where were you on that thread that the current average effective income tax is 14.5%, but the billionaires only pay 0.1%.

Shouldn't the billionaires at least pay the average?

income tax comes from income, who provides the ability to have an income?

Trickle down economics has been proven over and over and over and over again not to work.

While more than half of federal cash comes from income, the wealthy don't have income to report. They mooch off the safety and security provided by working class folk getting along paycheck to paycheck. The ability to accumulate billions in wealth is explained almost entirely by the tax code, which taxes income from work at much higher rates than income derived from assets.

The lost revenue from Biden's modest partial forgiveness of student loan debt would have been easily covered by tax increases on the wealthy that progressives have supported for decades.

Nobody. What a weird question.
