As of May 2026, AllSides has high confidence in our Lean Left rating for USA TODAY. Two or more bias reviews have affirmed this rating or the source is transparent about bias.
Even though their data is five years old?

Yeah, right.

Trump's own OMB is projecting a plus $2 trillion deficit this FY.

“Additionally, for most Presidents, fiscal outcomes during their first year in office are largely governed by budgets passed by the previous administration. As a result, early-term debt changes may reflect policies enacted before a President took office."”

Funny you didn't mention that when discussing Obama (who inherited an economy in complete collapse).

Anyway, Trump made major changes in the budget by insisting on a gigantic tax cut and now wants a huge increase in spending for the military and his stupid war on immigrants. That's what fueling the big increase in the projected deficit not any decisions made by Biden.

The one big beautiful bill added $325 billion in new spending programs, in addition to all the "no one pays taxes anymore" shenanigans, increasing debt by at least $7.3 trillion over the next 10 years.

You wanna say Biden did that?

@no1marauder said
Reagan and GW Bush did that, not Obama. https://www.self.inc/info/us-debt-by-president/

Trump, even before the 2026 FY numbers are included, has already increased the debt in dollar terms more in 5 years than Obama did in 8.
sure thoght O did something. how bout Biden

what i say is that you fellers would not gain admittance into a USA budget symposium, it would be a credential/experience problem. Innate knowledge of how money works. Like Kamala. Know nothing.
Not being personal. I. have very good such background, and I would NOT know my way around. Let's get Outhouse into this, we need a leader;

square your views as stated with this...

"Including the Biden Administration’s new student debt cancellation plan, we estimate all recent student debt cancellation policies will cost a combined $870 billion to $1.4 trillion. That’s more than all federal spending on higher education over the nation’s entire history."

Really? This is a dishonest argument. He only actually cancelled ~$100 billion of debt, and that was a one time deal. It was 10X less than Trump's paycheck protection plan.

Aaaand, most importantly, this new spending by the Trump administration is not going away. That's why the 10 year projections are so dismal. It's $350 billion in new spending EVERY YEAR FOREVER!

You are arguing that the money isn't being spent, or that it's money well spent?

The numbers are the numbers. The data is from the bipartisan policy center which is getting their data from the CBO and JCT. All non-partisan. And not really controversial or disputed by the Trump administration.

They're spending waaay more money than Biden was, and it's not even close. They're giving tax cuts to billionaires at the same time. Of course the debt is going to spike, the question is if or when anyone notices or cares?

Silly goose, we want tax cuts for the producers, do you not see anything? Econ 105. THEY WILL then make more success, by which we all succeed. Like the guy who invented’ intermittent windshield wipers’ He got rich, and we avoid wrecks because of him. Give a billionaire his head, he could take us to Mars!!! Oh, we got a guy already doing that. Either get his money, or let him have more.
Oh, that is not a big decision. The ‘give’ is a tax break! NOW you see!!!!

It was never passed, so it added $0 to the deficit.

EDIT: Wildgrass is correct, a fraction of student loan debt was actually forgiven.

A "whataboutism" using inflated figures that never happened. Pretty lame.

What you mean to say is "Trumpublican" proof, which, usually, is just some guy saying so.
