@Mott-The-Hoople saidYou keep asking this dumb question to avoid confronting the fact that tax cuts for the wealthy do not create jobs or spur the economy. There's 40 years of data. All they do is add to the federal deficit, and increase the wealth of rich people.
who provides the jobs?
@wildgrass saidA reasonable government would solve the problem by taxing the Rich for the reason that ""they can afford it".?????????
Yes. You're wrong. It's not about equality. Middle class is suffering under persistent high inflation and gas. Get this deficit under control by taxing the rich, because they can afford it. It might have the added benefit of pressuring politicians to cut spending on government, because the wealthy make the big political contributions. Once the deficit is under control, you ...[text shortened]... nsurate with spending cuts. This is how a reasonable federal government would approach this problem.
Man, could I tear that up?
You're good on some posts, then screw it all up with extreme shortsightedness.
@wildgrass saidWhew. is that you suzianne?
How many times does it have to be repeated? Working people pay taxes, not rich people. They are often not the same people.
@wildgrass saidIf I am successful you would punish me by making me pay more tax, I already pay the max. How much do you want, Bernie?
Sure but current tax incentives punish work and reward those who already have a big inheritance from daddy Warbucks to throw in an index fund.
Punish?? You punish success.
@wildgrass saidHey, suzianne.....Let's say my father is extremely wealthy. I go to college at Yale. The Tuition is $75,000. Another student with average parents goes to Yale, and has to pay $75,000.

Your rationale, correct me if I am wrong, is that the rich guy should pay more tuition because......your words....' he can afford it.'
Am I correct, is fhis your rationale??

Robber: “ because that is where the money is”
So, I see no difference in this logic and what you seem to present. I would love for you to explain the difference. Or you can talk in circles like marauder. Maybe quote a few links.
@AverageJoe1 saidNo! The current tax system punishes work, and rewards pre-existing wealth.

Success is telling you and your kids and grandkids and in-laws they don't ever have to pay taxes again. Success is looking down on the workers that drive the economy and saying "Haha I get to live in this country tax free."

Work is already rewarded in America. People can start businesses, invest, invent, build wealth, and move upward more than in most of human history. What you call ‘rewarding pre-existing wealth’ is often just rewarding risk, investment, and long-term success that created jobs, companies, and economic growth in the first place.
What I say here is in a nutshell what I’ve been trying to say to you. I can comfortably announce that, because you have nothing that you can say to defeat my point.
And your saying ‘what success is’ is absolutely the words of emotional pitifulness.
Here’s an idea, go out and make yourself successful. Then you won’t pontificate in this stupid way.. or carry on as you always do, complaining about the Rich. The Rich, the Rich, the Rich. To hell with the Rich….. I cannot imagine. I love the Rich. I love the Rich. I love the Rich. Make America great and greater..
@wildgrass saidwe all know success is laying up in a section eight bed munching on gubment cheese

@AverageJoe1 saidWork is rewarded and then punished through taxes. Both are true.

I think rich people should cover this deficit. You think the rich should remain above the punishment of the tax code.
You choose to punish work more than wealth. And you worship"risk" and "reward" of a billionaire not working as if actual work is not also risky and rewarding..
Hang out by the pool, drink mai tai's, don't pay taxes. All you have to do is be born of wealth.
@Mott-The-Hoople saidYour point? You want those folks to come up with $2 trillion for ICE and Iran?
also unemployed
@AverageJoe1 saidIn reality economic mobility in the US trails most of the countries in Europe esp. the "socialist" Nordic ones which have higher tax rates. And most studies show that economic mobility has decreased since 1980.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socioeconomic_mobility_in_the_United_States

A works as an Uber driver and makes $50,000 a year.
B sells some stock and makes $50,000.
C inherits $50,000.
Assume all are single. Who should pay the most in tax?
