The only thing I'm concerned about is that it will kill pub atmosphere, like Shav said.
Who wants to drink in a lifeless pub?
I'd rather stand in the freezing rain with a few smokers than sit in a pub full off bottled-water drinking w@nkers!
By the way, we got booted out of the pub at 11.30 today. Apparently Westminster Council is only pubs to remain open until midnight, max, as there are too many drinking establishments in the area.

Here on the border of Mexico we used to have 24/7 drinking times on the bars. I used to get on one of those drinking binges and stay there all weekend. At 4 in the A.M. I was usually the only dumb bastard there. If people want to have drink at any time I'm all for that. Then again I'm also for leagalized gambling, prostitution, and marijuana.

This explains a lot.

I hate smoking and hate smelling of smoke when I come home from the pub.
But if you go to a pub you know what you are getting, you get a choice to go to a pub or not.
It would be nice if there were some none smoking pubs, so people had a choice, but I'm against a total ban.

By all accounts it's killed the pub life in Dublin. Can anyone confirm this?
Pubs are still as full as ever.. After the ban came in first there was a drop off in numbers but that had as much to do with the rising cost of a pint here as the smoking ban, things are as busy as ever now though..
A lot of bars and clubs have adapted with heated beer gardens, others just have a thriving scene of smokers outside the front door..
Myself and most of my friend think its defiantly a good thing.

It depends on the day of the week, the month, the mood you're in, the music you're looking for, the type of crowd etc.
Sín É is a nice one, good music, nice seats, friendly crowd and fairly relaxed atmosphere.. Best pint of guinness is allegedy in Mulligans on Pool Beg st.
On the 24 hour drinking, its about time and hopefully it'll come to Ireland too.
After a few early morning drinking sessions people will learn to just go home when they've had enough, instead of waiting for last orders and being told to go home..
It'll also stop the deluge of drunken revelers hitting the streets at the same time, over here thats when most of the trouble occurs.

Next week, Tuesday night, mood sombre yet relaxed, music to go with wood, crowd must not be trendy.
If you are around next Tue i can meet you for a pint if you like, pm me.
Anyway, if you're down on the quays go to Sin é.
If you are near grafton st i'd go with Donoghues or Bruxelles or Keoghs..
If near Temple Bar, then the Foggy Dew or the Porterhouse.
