Yeah, one company (Exxon/Mobil),
reported $5.5 Billion profit, first
quarter 2022/
Of course, Jimm, we could have a socialist government like thy do in Venezuela, where the state-owned PDVSA's production leveled has dropped dramatically since the State took control of it to stop profiteering, and the country has to import gasoline from Iran.

If only Congress would do their job and tax the rich then we wouldn't have these problems
Oh, yeah...? And what do you think Congress will do with that extra revenue?

HINT: It's not what you *think* they will do

That wouldn't stop anything. There'd suddenly be a lot of CEOs getting 30k a year in income while somehow retaining their mansions, yachts and million acre ranches.
Yes, that - and CEO's moving out of country, over time.

Warren Buffet once mused,
''My secretary pays a higher tax rate than I do.''
Yup, and your Democrats control the congress.

Not if they reduced spending, how's that for math.

'',,,,,,,,,,The leadership of
this country has their heads somewhere that, in the normal course of life, should
have been autonomically impossible...............''
...........Sounds as if you're an authority on that, huh?
Tell me, did you vote for the lying, draft dodger, TRUMP, as well?
It doesn't matter who I voted for; I'm not a Trump apologist, and those that spend all
of their time talking about the EX-President, don't seem to worry too much about the
one currently in office is making a greater mess of things as each day goes by.

Something we agree on, I like metrics better the math is easier than dealing with
fractions called by different names. 🙂

Is there a lack of refining capacity in your country too or is the higher cost due to taxes?
It's mainly not as much government subsidising of big corporations, oil and otherwise.

Whenever you find someone clamouring for "small goobermint", you know he's really after big government payola to big corporations.

PEMEX, state run oil company of MEXICO,
successively operating for 90 years.
Drilling, refining, and selling.
Brazil, now, as well

I think I heard the euro was about parody to the dollar not long ago.
I wish my country would have switched to metric a long time ago.

How many gallons is 3 liters?
101.4 ounces, compared to 128 ounces in a US gallon.

The same thing they're doing with the money they're getting from borrowing and printing money but without the inflation or debt

It all boils down to the laws of supply and demand.
WHO is responsible for the supply of home-grown USA oil decreasing?
Gas in the UK just hit $11/gallon.
Want to blame that on Biden too ??

I asked in another thread a while back what gas would cost under the GOP.
The key here being that they don't back away from the global attempt to flight the climate change threat.

My question was would any government tell the public that they will discontinue their fight against global warming.
And do you believe that the climate threat is a hoax ?

If some people in this forum take a position on how to lower gas prices, then they have to give us their full position.

Thatd be great but not how partisan debates work anymore. Doesn't matter what it is or caused by. Good things were trump's hard work paying off. Bad things are Biden. It's less work for the brain that way.

It's all politics.
As distasteful as it is to go the Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, it is still easier to disengage from them than it is to reverse any steps taken so far to deal with climate change.
