@metal-brain saidWho wasn't expanding production for over 40 years?
If that energy company was competitive. When they don't expand production in over 40 years they are not competitive. It really is that simple.
THEY ARE PRICE FIXING!

@wildgrass saidI never claimed he sat prices only that he by his actions directly caused supply and demand to react causing prices to go up.
I didn't write that he has nothing to do with it. I wrote that he doesn't set prices.
1) You write some vagaries about supply cutoffs that are not supported by numbers. US Oil production peaked in Nov 2019, nearly 1.5 years before Biden took office, and fell by ~20% in the months leading up to Trumps departure. Since Biden took office? 11.0 million barrels a day in Jan 2 ...[text shortened]... e political talking points.

@kellyjay saidForget it, they will never admit to what Biden has done.

If Biden set gasoline prices at 20 dollars a gallon through federal taxes tomorrow, these idjits would declare him to be blameless and claim he had no choice...for our own good...even if he went on national news and said that he personally would get half of the increase into his personal bank account.
It's just the way these people think.
@kellyjay saidLol. this is absurdly vague. US Oil productions gone nothing but up since biden took office and pipelines not a factor ( it would not have been built by now). These are the two "actions" you keep referring to that don't seem to support the thesis.

@wildgrass saidOil production after Biden took office has decreased, unless you can provide a link that says otherwise.

"Tell me, exactly why would you invest in expanding production if you ran an energy company?"

I'll admit I'm not following the oil industry closely. So maybe you're right and I'm wrong. Can you show me a single proposed expansion to refinery capability that has not been opposed by environmentalists?
My hypothesis is that oil companies know they're wasting their money trying to develop new refineries because the politicians always side with the environmentalists. Your hypothesis is that oil companies don't bother because they want to ensure there is less supply. Can you run through your analysis and explain to me why you're confident it is the latter and not the former?
Also of interest, the allegation of price gouging has come up over and over again in Venezuela as they have marched steadily into tyranny. While the allegation may feel right, perhaps we should be a little more circumspect about following the path of a failed state. e.g. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-venezuela-politics/venezuela-jails-34-store-managers-on-charges-of-price-gouging-idUSKCN1M103V
Here candidate Biden campaigns against Trump by utilizing harsh criticism against Saudia Arabia.

Here president Biden begs Saudia Arabia to produce more oil, but gets rejected. Note also that Biden closed the Keystone XL pipeline which probably led to Champaign toasts in Saudia Arabia.

What exactly is the game plan?

I already did that previously in this thread, but I will post my sources again.

And here is the real kicker. They say they may "never" build a new refinery.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-may-never-build-refinery-165224127.html
I am not the only one who is suspicious either. There are government inquiries to determine if high fuel prices are the result of anti-competitive practices. This article says Joe Biden asked the Federal Trade Commission to conduct an investigation last fall, and that is still ongoing. It is probably a farce. How long does it take?

@Metal-Brain
Why are you right wingers and comrades saying this is an American problem when gas in the UK is twice ours already, at 11 bucks a GALLON,
So tell me how Biden managed THAT one as well as the 5 to 7 we have here?
@sonhouse saidBIDEN is responsible....Inflation isn't worldwide?
