@joe-shmo saidYup, we definitely shouldn't "excessively regulate" guns. Or anything else for that matter.
I believe your implied analogy is a little backwards from the reality of gun regulation.
We let the drunks keep the alcohol (the problem), and instead try to keep them from driving a vehicle (treating the symptom of "accidental" homicide instead). The "vehicle regulation" is the "gun regulation" in your analogy, not the "alcohol". So in order to minimize drunk driving in ...[text shortened]... y regulates a very large group of responsible vehicle operators at the expense of a few a$$ wipes...
@mghrn55 saidObama believes in the second amendment, but only for arming drug lords in Mexico with his fabulous Fast and Furious program.
Would you care to share that with us ?
Why do you believe in the 2nd amendment ?
Law abiding citizens, though, need to have guns taken away cuz they are the ones that are dangerous.
Incidentally, how many lives are saved by guns everyday?
Anyone? My guess is that it far out paces lives taken.
For example, the chap that shot up a church in Texas with an AR 15 was confronted with a private citizen with another AR15 and was stopped by the private citizen before he could get away.
How many lives did he save? It really is impossible to calculate, isn't it.
@kazetnagorra saidWhoah, nice one, the truth gets in.

@shavixmir saidShag doody knows as much about tanks as gun grabbers know about 'assault rifles'.
Well yes. I was ignorant of the fact private individuals can own a tank. We don’t have any of them driving through the streets...
That being said, a tank that can’t shoot is surely just a tractor?
@dood111 saidYes there is.
Ask the Swiss......where every male of military age is required to keep their army issue firearm and ammo at home.
They don't have a problem with gun violence, but then......there's a reason for that, isn't there?
First (not most important) reason: Swiss reservists may not shoot at will and have to account for each and every round they possess.
Another one: Swiss people are very much relying on the state to work properly. Freedom is exersized in elections. I think direct democracy has something for itself.
Add your own observations
@ponderable saidThe Swiss reservists can buy their own ammo and keep it at home and don't have to account for jack if it's their privately purchased ammo.
Yes there is.

Privately purchased guns/ammo have no accountability for the rounds they shoot.
@whodey saidNot so sure about that.
Europe is rapidly becoming freer than the US.
Guns are pretty much outlawed or strictly controlled in most of Europe, and hate speech laws in the UK, France, Germany are draconian, people are being arrested for simply speaking their minds.
I have to disagree with you.
