@soothfast saidThe NY ruling was correct. It's unfortunate that other States' courts allowed just as egregious gerrymandering maps, but that does not change the fact that the practice is a violation of basic democratic principles.
There is an outside chance the House can be kept sane, too.
It's too bad about New York. A judge ruled this year that New York had a gerrymander, but unlike similar rulings this year in several gerrymandered red states, the New York judge insisted that the gerrymander had to be fixed immediately. The gerrymandered red states, meanwhile, got to skate by and kee ...[text shortened]... But for this one gross judicial inequity, the Democrats would all but certainly have kept the House.
AOC gives an interesting and critical post-mortem on how the NY Democratic Party probably managed to lose the House.https://theintercept.com/2022/11/09/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-new-york-state-democratic-party-midterms/
@no1marauder saidYes, yes, I do agree with the ruling, just not its execution relative to other equally blatant gerrymanders in other states. That was my only point, really.

@sleepyguy saidSome republicans are a threat to democracy and they are not exactly shy about it, the lunatic fringe is thinking up ways to thwart the will of the people in battleground states under the gossamer thin guise of claiming election fraud in the previous election.
I don't know what to think, which is why I'm asking the question. This election feels different. Dems seem to keep repeating that Repubs are a "threat to our Democracy" and so on. After the BLM riots it seems reasonable to expect more of the same.
It’s by no means Republicans per se but you don’t need that many in strategic places to have detrimental effect on democracy.
If that does happen the answer to your question is much more likely to be a yes.
@shavixmir saidSo you Europeans can start over taxing us for tea again and stealing our mink furs? Not a chance.
I’m hoping for violence.
The sooner that satanic capitalist state of retards is brought to its knees, the better!
@sonhouse saidApart from the pure fantasists like MB I think that’s just button pushing but to blatantly stupid to deserve a reaction.
@kevcvs57
What is the rationale for conflating BLM with the coup attempt on Jan 6?
I've seen others, Antifa is who really attacked on Jan 6 and such.
Who are these people propagating stuff like this? Professional deflectors?
