@dj2becker saidWell that’s just a truism surely, unless you believe that black people are not actually people.
‘All lives don’t matter until black lives matter’ - Faf du Plessis, SA cricket captain.
I’m jumping on this without knowing whether or not you agree with du Plessis so apologies if it seems a bit snappy.
@kevcvs57 saidIf all lives matter then it follows that black lives matter.

If anyone's life doesn't matter, then all lives do not matter.
Regardless of how you feel about someone, 'all' does not exclude anyone.

@lemon-lime saidYeah... do you comprehend where the sentiment comes from?

And why expanding the definition (which in itself is quite correct) deminishes from the objective?

do you comprehend where the sentiment comes from?Yes. It's a reaction to a perceived bias regardless of whether that bias exists or not. It erroneously assumes an invisible strawman saying black lives don't matter.
It's not a definition, it's a three word slogan. It's designed to give you the impression they are responding to people who don't believe they matter. And if you aren't stupid enough to be led along by the nose with this nonsense, then you are one of the villains who don't think they matter.
See how that works?

Are black people being shot by white cops?
Me thinks there is an inherent problem in your society, and by the sounds if it, you are part of said problem.

@lemon-lime saidYeah that was my point, it’s a truism that all lives cannot matter unless everyone’s life matters.

@lemon-lime saidYour ignoring the evidence that to some in the US and other places black lives apparently did not matter because you could kill them in broad daylight and just walk away again and again.do you comprehend where the sentiment comes from?Yes. If you want to pretend that slogan ‘black lives matter’ is a synonym for ‘white lives don’t matter’ then fine, but your game is very transparent.

@kevcvs57 saidIf black lives matter but not all lives matter, then whose life in your opinion does not matter?
Yeah that was my point, it’s a truism that all lives cannot matter unless everyone’s life matters.
See how that works? Like it or not, two can play at this game. If you want to pretend your position is unassailable that's fine, but not everyone can be fooled into thinking it's okay for protesters to 'inadvertently' provide cover for destructive riots. Peaceful protesters are bemoaning the fact that rioters have highjacked their protest, as though one has nothing to do with the other..
Rioters always show up whenever there's a 'peaceful' protest. But I'm supposed to believe what... there is no correlation between protests and destructive rioting? If you are black and own property in downtown Portland, does your life and livelihood matter? Apparently not... the mob are equal opportunity destructors of lives and livelihoods.

@lemon-lime saidNot really because your making stuff up, who has claimed that anyone’s life doesn’t matter?

More specifically when did I claim that someone’s life didn’t matter. Again you can pretend not to realise that ‘black lives matter’ was coined in the atmosphere of of unarmed black men being disproportionately unlawfully killed by police officers who were getting to carry on as if nothing happened and you can also pretend that you don’t get that it’s meant to be read as ‘black lives matter‘ (too)but most reasonable non black people got that without having it explained to them again and again and again.
