There was a SCI FI short story I read some 40 years ago where this dude said I now control my AI God level of intelligence and hears the AI talk and gets frightened and pulls the plug but anticipated and a flash at the power plug fuses it together so power is there and humans can't stop it. That was half century ago. Think of REALITY of AI now.
And I use Gemini a LOT, which says one would lose the ability to think for themselves but the data I get are sources I cannot easily access like spec sheets for transistors or Zener diodes and such, it is a huge help in my job so there is that.

People SHOULD be concerned about AI; these days just about everything is connected to the internet. One of the vehicles we have is an 8 year old Mazda BT 50 ute, that is somehow connected to the internet as the clock updates automatically with daylight saving.
Humans are creating something that will learn and evolve, but into what?
If it learns to protect itself then the very people who created it become a threat; what then.
I have read that some people say we need a 'kill switch' so if things get out of hand we can simply turn it off - yeah right, AI is much smarter; once AI gets into the internet then thing of the untold damage; it could destroy stock markets and cause a global meltdown, shut down power stations, close air traffic control, etc etc.
I don't think some people who say weapons are not connected to the internet have been inside a naval, army or airforce control room.
Anyway; why worry about AI some blondonald goofhead is just about to trigger a world-wide recession.

How do I know that the machines have crunched the numbers on this? Because thousands of people have already asked it through their browser interfaces, and at some point it has a "that's classified" feature but if individual users, terrorist groups, foreign governments etc. can wall off the sentient chatbot and remove the safeguards, I think it would hammer out a plan. And a backup plan.
