That sound suspiciously like the plans of the occupy crowd in Detroit. About the time that the police were going to kick them out of the park, which happened to be the onset of winter, they declared they were moving to some abandoned building.

I don't know if they ever cleaned up the mess they made.

Its been argued vehemently right here in this forum that the protesters are not violent and have been compared to the peaceful tea party movement. Which there is no similarity btw.
At least you admit they are violent because they are bored and angry.
Well, if we judged from the Tea Party fringe who pick fights with counterdemonstrators, you have the basis for comparison. But you're right in that in terms of political analysis, there is no basis. The occupiers have a better sense of the world, and the sources of the problems.

The vast majority of occupiers have been peaceful, and in many cases it was the police who initiated the violence. You could deny it in the 60s because it so rarely made it to camera, but now, from the police perspective, it's just hard to get away with anything anymore.

I don't know what happened in this case, but the police almost killed a young man - an Iraq war veteran actually - a few months ago. I will wait until I have more facts to judge the situation.

They only hit City Hall as far as I can tell, so the comparisons with camping on peoples' private home front yards are out of place.

Is that how it works ? So if I decide to participate in illegal activity and the police tell me to stop and I respond with a "F-you pig ! Try making me stop ! " Followed by me getting pepper sprayed or hit with a bean bag I can go off on the ...[text shortened]... ight. Thats good to know. I'll be sure to explain to the judge that violence begets violence.
Hope your case goes well and you get a not guilty verdict.

Send me the live link details so I can watch and vouch for you!!

I'm sure north Korean special forces can beat up the Michigan Militia. Irrelevant of course to what's going on in Oakland.

I thought you'ld be capable of connecting a few dots. Oakland has their politically correct cops breaking up the crowds. Detroit has even more politically correct cops meeting with and making deals with the occupy crowd, but they moved out peacefully, probably due to the onset of a usually cold winter. Of course another reason, may have been the presence of the militia. I brought it up in response to your video of Dre and 2pac and their crew.

The police are not politically incorrect enough. Smoke, tear gas and bean bags are soft peddling.

2pac assumed room temperature a few years back and is not relevant. Dre might be less than tolerant of occupiers if they camped out in front of his house, and vandalized his property. I'd put my money on the Michigan Militia over the ragtag bunch in that video.
I presume you'd prefer a Syrian-type response.

I'd prefer that people have the right to peacefully assemble, state their case and go home without make permanent pain in the asses of themselves, and making public parks into latrines.

My point was that they are whining about being arrested. It could as you point out be much worse.

The public, however when a specific group among the public take long term possession of a park it becomes unusable for the rest of the public.

Nonsense. The Occupations certainly increased the use of said parks by the public.

“OCCUPY” THUGS ATTACK CATHOLIC GIRLS
FEBRUARY 2, 2012

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on what happened last week in Providence, Rhode Island:
On January 25, Thomas Tobin, the Bishop of Providence, decided to reach out to “Occupy Providence” by allowing the homeless to seek shelter in Catholic churches; the city had turned down a request by the group to set up daytime shelters.

The next day, “Occupy Providence” activists showed their gratitude by crashing a pro-life rally, shouting down a speaker, stopping a priest from offering a closing prayer, and throwing condoms at Catholic schoolgirls. In short, these left-wing activists have turned into urban bullies who need to be stopped.
