In case you hadn’t noticed Islam is no longer the center of the scientific world and hasn’t been for a millennium.
They still teach creationism.

My point was vivify has no problem attacking Christians but doesn't have the balls to attack Muslims.

You are always a little off when you reply to a post.

Please remember to ventilate your work area when doing renovations. I think you've been breathing in too many fumes.

What a coincidence!

The problem is there is no requirement for these parents to choose schools that provide standardized curriculums. Parents can choose schools that teach "Jesus did it" instead of science.

If these vouchers allowed parents to choose schools that follow nationally standardized education, then it wouldn't be a problem. This isn't the case with Arizona's vouchers.
So require accreditation for a school to get voucher dollars (as they do with colleges). I have no problem with that.

Accreditation wouldn't limit what can be taught, but it would certainly set a minimum curriculum standard.

It’s hard to maintain standards that way. It leads to segments of the population living in a false reality, believing that the universe was created in six days about 6,000 yrs ago and that humans and dinosaurs cohabited. This is not good.
You can set a minimum standard for education, but you can't force your worldview upon other people.

Require that they teach how evolution works for voucher dollars? Sure. Trying to stop people from being taught Bible and religion? Pointless.

You're clearly missing the point of these vouchers. The Arizona Republicans aren't interested in any standard of education, this is about idealism.

A known creationist was put in charge of reviewing how evolution is taught:

Properly educating children isn't the goal here. Otherwise, they wouldn't let people without college degrees become teachers.

I guess you think Muslims shouldn't teach creationism too?
Muslims have special schools for teaching the Koran and subjective spiritual matters and they usually run out of school hours and are financed by parents and / or the local mosque.
I myself was sent to Sunday School to be instilled with my parents choice of dogma which I only superficially tuned in to and shrugged off when it’s preposterous nature became obvious.
No publicly funded school should be teaching creationism as a fact in the same way they should be explaining biology and other sciences.

@Beowulf
The whole POINT is Christians are overwhelming in our population compared to ANY other religion so folks educated to hate science and ONLY worship creationism will grow up to be politicians with the power to change society in ways that will have detrimental effects on ALL of us, like stopping EPA, stopping the science unit of the USDA. Oh, wait, the right wingers have already checked THAT one off the bucket list.
I guess NASA will be safe because they think China is taking over the moon and all we would have left is the rest of the solar system starting with Mars.
And say goodbye to genetic research because we ALL know GOD made humans and all the other life on Earth so don't bother with that science crap, all we need is the bible and keep women barefoot and pregnant, who gives a rats ass if half the brainpower of Americans will be gone, down to darning socks, who needs female brains anyway.....

You should be so lucky.

USAnian Mammon-worshipers are overwhelming in your religious make-up, compared to any other religion. Second, maybe, is Islam, but more likely, Mormonism or Pastafarianism. Christianity? Not a chance. Not one in a million in your country.

Texas allows charter schools to teach creationism:

https://slate.com/technology/2014/01/creationism-in-texas-public-schools-undermining-the-charter-movement.html

Creationists were picked to review Arizona's standards on evolution:

https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/creationist-helped-review-arizona-evolution-curriculum-10820376

So creationism in schools is clearly on the way in Arizona.
Which is total bull, because of the First Amendment to the US Constitution.

The State cannot show favoritism to any one religion, because that is seen as promoting it. I'm sure they'd love to see Christianity adopted as the State Religion, but that should be fought tooth and nail, because the First Amendment doesn't allow that. End of.

Funny how they live and die on the Second Amendment, but totally forget there is a First Amendment.

You do realize that for the next 10 years or more Democrats will be ridiculed for their current delusional beliefs right?

Says who?

Clearly, Republicans are the whack jobs, here.

Not electing con men would help, you know.

Overwhelming numbers of like minded citizens getting the government they desire (within constitutional constraints) is a feature, not a bug.

Well... they will in Texas. If, that is, the Texas power grid holds up for long enough for the Texans to have an internet to ridicule the Democrats on.
