Republicans had one hearing - it was an absolute disaster. None of their own witnesses could say on record that there was any evidence that would amount to an impeachable offense.
Now they've sent a subpoena to Hunter Biden. He AGREED TO TESTIFY PUBLICLY. But I guess Republicans don't want that now, they almost immediately refused the request for public testimony as they wanted it behind closed doors.
These are the same Republicans who refuse to testify regarding crimes that they allegedly committed. Refuse to set the record straight.
Hunter Biden is agreeing to testify, folks. Are they talking about this on Brick bart?
@wildgrass
Let me get this straight. After wailing and moaning for 11 months about Hunter this and Hunter that and alluding to some vast conspiracy, after sending Hunter Biden a subpoena to appear and testify to the allegations, Chairman Comer and the Oversight Republicans now reject his acceptance offer to appear before the full committee and the eyes of the world and answer any questions they have for him? What a humiliation, and an admission that they are not really interested in facts and have no confidence in their own case or their ability to pursue evidence and leads.
Republicans fear sunlight.
@shavixmir
They refuse to have the inquisition televised because they KNOW good and well their shock and pony shell game will be obvious to anyone with slightly more than a half a brain. They can't push their lies on open TV.
@wildgrass saidOversight? More like Overreach.

@kevcvs57 saidThe "facts" are being misrepresented.
Yes it most certainly is though. What is the point of lying about well known verifiable facts
They want Hunter to testify in the closed-door proceedings.
He said he'll only testify in open proceedings.
Too bad for him he doesn't get the choice.
@shavixmir saidIt will be done publicly AFTER his deposition is taken.
Why not? Why not do it publically?
What have they got to hide?
James Comer WANTS him to testify openly afterwards, he says so here..
That's the way it's done.
Here is THE TRUTH:
Just more of the Biden-loving left making a lot of false claims and twisting the facts.
@jj-adams saidA closed-door hearing allows Republicans to distort facts. Remember when Trump had Barr misrepresent the Mueller report so he could claim "no collusion" prompting Mueller to hold a press conference to set the record straight?

Whatever Republicans claim was said in the deposition will become "true" to conservatives. Av Joe will prance around going "OMG, LOLZ" and links to what was *actually* said won't matter. Just like with the Mueller report, the damage is done once a false statement is released.
There should be a law giving prison time to government officials who lie for personal or political gain.

I don't give a fukk about what you think is the truth.
If an individual wants to give any form of testimony publically, that should be granted.
The opposite, if someone is forced to give testimony publically, the people taking the testimony should have very strong arguments why it should not be done behind closed doors.
It has to do with the safety of an individual.
The mere fact that the republicans refuse an open testimony is very dubious indeed. No matter what sorts of truths you think to be buzzing around.
Human rights.

You give a deposition in private in order to see if a trial is warranted.
You testify at a trial.
