"Biden's likely pick to lead the Pentagon isn't a win for feminism"

Debates

@Duchess64 - "Biden's likely pick to lead the Pentagon isn't a win for feminism.
i
Is it supposed to be?

America needs a well run military. Feminists need power.

I don't trust people to be in power in America that care about power more than America.

Feminists are not patriots, they do not care about people, only themselves.

Is the solution better or worse than the problem?

Solving one problem without creating another is a rather difficult task, is it not?

Therein lies the rub - -

Biden's cabinet picks are going to have be acceptable, at best, to Joe Manchin and at worst to Mitt Romney, Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins.

It will be impossible to get anyone as head of the Pentagon who is "progressive" even if Biden was so inclined (which he probably isn't).

@Earl-of-Trumps
Well then, why do you trust Trump? You claim to be independent, libertarian but defend Trump at every turn.

If a woman can competently lead the Pentagon, I have no trouble with that.

Do YOU?

I'm sure you feel the same about the evangelical base wanting to have their Messiah installed in the White House ?
Wasn't it bad enough that a nut bar like Paula White was on the White House payroll ?
(for those who aren't familiar with the name or her antics, a simple search on YouTube will provide some insight).

For one, Trump loves America. So stop lying. And leave it to you to twist this into another Trump bash thread.

There is a major difference between a woman and a feminist

Absolutely,

Amy Coney Barrett is not a woman that cares only about women.

ergo, in the eyes of the feminazis, she sucks.

Trump loves Trump period. If he even remotely liked America he would allow the transition process to go ahead, you know, just in case his beautiful lawsuits don’t manage to flip the White House in his favour.
Why don’t you stop lying.

Kev,

I'd converse with you but you are a major league liar and I have no need to try to correct you.

you have a major case of trump derangement syndrome and it affects your every thought.

Have a nice day Kev.

Since feminism is a:

"1. The advocacy of women's rights on the basis of the equality of the sexes

2. The theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes

3. The belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities

4. The doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men."

Obviously the first woman being appointed to an important Cabinet post in an area (Defense) that would be stereotypically considered a male domain is a "win for feminism" even if that appointee doesn't meet the standards of leftists writing articles in the Guardian.

(Cue to complaints about "White Feminism" which is where Duchy wants this thread to go in the first place).

What do think "libertarian" means?

I'll give you a hint. It does not mean someone who blindly follows in lockstep behind the Democrat or Rebublican party.
It does not mean someone who blindly promotes left wing narratives and policies.
( that's YOUR job )

What makes you think "libertarian" is just another word for leftist, or progressive, or Democrat?
A Libertarian is an Independent, with the emphasis on "liberty".
Republicans (and conservatives in particular) do not have a problem with liberty.
So what's your problem?

You don't like liberty? Or, too much liberty means YOU are not in control?

Since the right to wage war and set budgets rests with Congress in the US system it's not utterly clear this makes a huge difference. It might be better, Congress ought to be more inclined to closely scrutinise a defence secretary they perceive as a hawk than one they see as a dove.
