@suzianne saidHe represents the power of the mind, the importance of a man's unbridled spirit, free from control by other people or entities. This concept should be familiar to you, as your folks are all about defeating it. Freedom, independence, self-reliance, you know, those important parts of a man's life.

Who IS John Galt?
The world which is espoused by liberals here and in our country want to break a man who dares stand up for these virtues. Independence be damned.

@averagejoe1 saidSo you bought into Ayn Rand's hype, did you?

Did you even read Atlas Shrugged?
The article I linked above is right. "But her emails!" is today's "Who is John Galt?" And for obvious reasons.

@averagejoe1 saidYet, people like you still dream of an authoritarian America. You should be far more afraid of a Donald Trump than a Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump is the dark side, not Hillary Clinton. But you didn't fully understand the book. You stopped after getting the surface message.
Atlas Shrugged was my 2nd favorite book for many, many years. My most fave was Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I like to say it was not about Zen, nor about Motorcycles, but about the quality of life. Alas, a life like this cannot thrive in an authoritarian world.
@suzianne saidGuess I will have to read it again. Thanks for your insight?

@averagejoe1 saidHer arguments were ridiculous.
Yes, in the late '60s I actually subscribed to her newsletter, The Objectivist.
The human being is a rational being… uhuh…
If that were so, then trump would not have been president, flat-earthers wouldn’t exist and fossil fuels would be a thing of the past.
And didn’t she end up a screaming hypocrite?
@averagejoe1 saidRead the article in the Houston Press first.

@suzianne saidQuote from the article: “It was an excuse to not examine what had gone wrong in a world that welcomed Trump as president, not an absolution of Clinton’s flaws.“

I always viewed Trump as a symptom not a cause of what’s going wrong with America.
@averagejoe1 saidHe’s bankrupted how many companies now, five? He’s a shirker, never takes responsibility when things go awry. He’s still harping on an election he lost by 7 million votes. That’s your roll model ? Ouch.

Dear Joe. Aren't you forgetting something? You gladly accept what our country offers i.e. an army and navy to protect you, law enforcement, courts of law, a reasonably stable currency, deposit protection, roads, bridges etc. All things provided by your Local, State, and Federal Governments - but at the same time, you want the Government off your back.
You can't have it both way's Joe, it's a package deal. Either accept the package, or find another place to live! 😏
@moonbus saidAnd my view has been that it is a direct result of the dumbing down of America. We were set up for the con.

@suzianne saidIndeed. This is why the right wing attacks higher education and literacy programs at every turn, seeks to slash budgets for public education, funds for children's school nutrition programs etc. They don't want people asking too many questions, doing research, fact finding etc.

@averagejoe1 saidAlmost sounds like someone ready to remove the shackles of religion.
