@wolfgang59 saidWith you being dragged off screaming: “Soylent green!!!”
Chicago and Albuquerque will soon be receiving unwanted "help" from Trump's federal thugs.
Where will it end?
@wolfgang59 saidDoes the Mayor have the right to allow chaos in their city, and the destruction of your private property & disruption of your life, because they believe in a political cause..?

Or does the Mayor have an obligation to protect the rights of people who live there?
@philokalia saidNo, and yes, that's why Trump and his thugs need to stay out and mind their own business.

@philokalia saidIt’s pretty obvious that law and order are the only planks on trumps election ship not left rotting.

His strategy is keep the conflict and chaos going and stoke it to the point where he can scare some voters back into the fold.
Sending in unmarked thugs in unmarked rental vehicles as roaming snatch squads is a good way of doing it but as usual it will backfire because he’s got the strategic skills of a brain damaged baboon.
Chicago just had an incident where 15 people attending a funeral were shot.
This, of course, above and beyond their per usual daily shootings and killings.
So when Trump sends in troops, the racist mayor, Lori Lightfoot objected
to Trumps "terrorism". Hmmm...
Sounds like Lori Lightfoot would rather have the terrorism done by home grown thugs.
Chicago, Chicago that toddling town
Chicago, Chicago I will show you around - I love it
Bet your bottom dollar you lose the blues in Chicago, Chicago
The town that Billy Sunday couldn't shut down
Oh, the irony
@earl-of-trumps saidWhat have inter-gang revenge shootings to do with the protests?

@wolfgang59 saidThere is some amount of agreement from Lori Lightfoot (Chicago Mayor):
Chicago and Albuquerque will soon be receiving unwanted "help" from Trump's federal thugs.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot has accepted President Donald Trump’s offer of federal law enforcement officials to help fight crime in Chicago — but says they must not patrol protests, as federal officials are doing in Portland, Oregon.

The Mayor of Aluquerque has a strange position on this.
He makes it sound like this is acceptable, even something that naturally happens at other times, and he merely emphasizes that he wants to regulate it.
KELLER: Well, you know, for us, I think the first thing is eventually, there usually has to be an agreement signed. And so we're going to be trying to make sure that we stand up for our values as an inclusive city and make sure that that makes sense. Otherwise, you know, we are looking at different legal actions and so forth. But we also want to send a clear message that we're not going to be used as, you know, a pawn in the election and, you know, for sort of gaslighting immigrants and people of color. That's - our city is not about any of that. And I really worry that's what the president's trying to do.
...
KELLER: You know, we actually work with federal partners literally every day on all sorts of different task forces. And so certainly if it fits, you know, within our value set, we would do it. And that's pretty routine here. But what's not routine is the president actually talking about it. And so I think in this context, that makes it even more suspect.

It seems to me that there are some concerns plus a lot of hand wringing.
This was also a very interesting excerpt on this:
Chicago Fraternal Order of Police president John Catanzara slammed Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s leadership Tuesday, accusing her of “running the Titanic into an iceberg intentionally.”
"The mayor likes to use the word 'unhinged." The ironic part is the mayor became unhinged,” Catanzara told Fox News’s Laura Ingraham Tuesday night. “I wish I could show you the text messages that she sent me over the weekend as soon as she found out that I had sent the request to President Trump.”
"She was the one who became totally unhinged, unprofessional, childish," he said, "and it was really pathetic for the leader of a city."
Catanzara was referring to the request he made via a letter to Trump to send federal assistance to Chicago to help stem the explosion in crime that has plagued the city in recent weeks.
Murders and shootings rose by nearly 80% in June. On Tuesday, 15 people were hurt when a shooting erupted aimed at a gathering outside a funeral home.

Very interesting. I did not know a police chief could supersede the mayor.
@earl-of-trumps saidThey aren't supposed to. Police Chiefs report to Mayors. This Chief was extremely unprofessional and deliberately undermining his government.

Sounds like this Police Chief needs to be relieved of his command.

@athousandyoung saidBased off of what I know about Lori Lightfoot, I would not be bending over to believe her narrative.
