No, I hit the point you racist scum
Calling me racist is laughable, especially when compared to your own racism.

DEI should really just stop at the hiring stage. Enforced "diversity training" and whatnot was overreach and not only ineffective but counterproductive. Hiring "diversity officers" was and is a waste of money.

That's the discussion MAGA should have initiated, rather than screaming like a deranged two-year-old. There's no question that "wokeness" went overboard in many areas.
Yeah, I agree. But then it's not really DEI its more like using standardized and structured hiring committees, and meritocratic quantifiable metrics for hiring. Hiring itself is an exclusive process, you are weeding through a stack of applications and deciding on one candidate.

I don't think MAGA wants any sort of substantive discussion about anything ever. They want fun slogans and they want the ends to justify the means. Getting rid of DEI to them was the solution to their problem of not being able to find a job.

"Woke" was hijacked by the far-right. It never meant what they said it meant. They (the powers that be) took a word from outside their culture and misappropriated it and changed its meaning. The original concepts of "woke" are still discussed in black families with children. Of course it means nothing to white families, as white kids don't have to be worried about being ...[text shortened]... oyees are ignored or punished for the color of their skin.

In some companies, now more than ever.
All good points, and I agree that the term "woke" has been jerked this way and that, perverted by right-wingers, and rendered virtually unrecognizable in relation to its original meaning.

As I said, DEI should really be a policy that informs hiring decisions. Beating employees over the head with mandatory diversity training fosters resentment and ultimately does nothing to change or dispel the prejudices one may harbor in their heart. I think diversity training should be readily available to those who are interested, so that it's voluntary. A company, institution, or government agency can choose to make it mandatory, of course, but I'm skeptical of going beyond that.

I said earlier in this thread that the rollback of DEI has mainly occurred in the federal government and red states, but I wish to amend that. Of course, many colleges, universities, companies, and corporations, in a (futile) effort to kowtow to Trump and appease his infantile proclivities, scrapped their DEI policies. The links I supplied point out that those who crooked their knee to Nectarine Nero got nothing out of the deal. Nothing. That's what everybody learns, sooner or later, when they try to deal with him: they get stiffed, backstabbed, thrown under a bus, used like toilet paper, forgotten, blackmailed, or enjoined to do even more to appease him.

Ideally, DEI, in my mind, goes like this: two applicants for a job have identical academic and professional qualifications, and both did well in their interviews. Who to choose? Answer: pick the one who stands a better chance of bringing a fresh perspective to the table during meetings or collaborative projects. And yes, this may mean deciding to hire, say, the woman instead of the man, especially if most of those already on the company payroll are men.

Now, beyond that, the DEI philosophy might be applicable again when it comes time to decide who to promote, and there are two or more equally qualified employees under consideration.

MAGA isn't about solving problems, it's about hurting people and indulging in the self-gratifying catharsis of public temper tantrums.

Absolutely.

Tell me, WTF do white people know of slavery?

Funny how your definition and the definition of blacks in this country have nothing in common.
So...? who gives a rat's azz.

my definition of slavery is being forced to do something against your will, for no money.

With that definition, the Trump Administration are all slavers.

Anybody who works for a living and has their paycheck ripped off - yes, is a slave.
Of course, you're convinced this only happens when Trump is in office.

No it isn't making a comeback. What an absurd statement, reeking of wishful thinking.

It was an embarrassment for a lot of companies and many of them lost money or worse.

Anyone who thinks DEI or affirmative action is needed, also thinks those people are inferior and must be pampered and helped along by others more capable.

Did you drop in from an alternative universe? DEI is NOT "making a comeback". Universities and private companies are running from it as fast as they can shed themselves of the constraints DEI was pushing on them,. People were being put in positions they didn't deserve and couldn't function in, and now they aren't. .......and that's a good thing.
Agreed.
