I am trying to learn Mandarin and Korean and although they both have some potential practical value, I am learning purely because I find it interesting.

Morse code to the uninitiated is a secret language, which could be used by children to talk amongst themselves without parents or teachers having a clue as to the subject matter, not a good idea to commit sensitive info to paper as a curious oldie could decode the message.
Even seemingly useless knowledge can be instructive in the learning of it; there are people out there who play golf for in order to exercise the body, others do crosswords and sudoku to exercise the mind.
