    Sounds good to me, though I think rental should not be overlooked. I believe the US's policy of encouraging home ownership has not necessarily been good for the economy.

    I must add that here in South Africa, the poorest people are being given free houses (OK the process is a bit slow, so not everyone has one yet).

    And in Zambia, healthcare used to be free (I believe it still is to some degree), so everyone was essentially forced to buy healthcare and the money was collected as taxes. I think it worked reasonably well.

    Home ownership is good for the country; however, allowing people to buy homes
    they cannot pay for not so much. I'm glad the system works if it does.
