I think before the end of the year the democrats will be following the same idea as the U.K. so the democrats can garner some votes for midterms 🤔

Hope you're right, but there's still plenty of insanity out there. Below is from Rasmussen. Too bad they didn't survey support for just putting the unvaxxed in ovens. I wouldn't be surprised to find 5% of Dems in favor.

--------
The survey of 1,016 U.S. Likely Voters was conducted on January 5, 2022 by the Heartland Institute and Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.

The survey found that 75 % of likely Democratic voters – but only 21% of Republicans and 38% of unaffiliated voters – have a favorable opinion of Dr. Fauci. Among other findings of the survey:

– Fifty-eight percent (58% ) of voters would oppose a proposal for federal or state governments to fine Americans who choose not to get a COVID-19 vaccine. However, 55% of Democratic voters would support such a proposal, compared to just 19% of Republicans and 25% of unaffiliated voters.

– Fifty-nine percent (59% ) of Democratic voters would favor a government policy requiring that citizens remain confined to their homes at all times, except for emergencies, if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Such a proposal is opposed by 61% of all likely voters, including 79% of Republicans and 71% of unaffiliated voters.

– Nearly half (48% ) of Democratic voters think federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison individuals who publicly question the efficacy of the existing COVID-19 vaccines on social media, television, radio, or in online or digital publications. Only 27% of all voters – including just 14% of Republicans and 18% of unaffiliated voters – favor criminal punishment of vaccine critics.

– Forty-five percent (45% ) of Democrats would favor governments requiring citizens to temporarily live in designated facilities or locations if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine. Such a policy would be opposed by a strong majority (71% ) of all voters, with 78% of Republicans and 64% of unaffiliated voters saying they would Strongly Oppose putting the unvaccinated in “designated facilities.”

– While about two-thirds (66% ) of likely voters would be against governments using digital devices to track unvaccinated people to ensure that they are quarantined or socially distancing from others, 47% of Democrats favor a government tracking program for those who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine.

How far are Democrats willing to go in punishing the unvaccinated? Twenty-nine percent (29% ) of Democratic voters would support temporarily removing parents’ custody of their children if parents refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine. That’s much more than twice the level of support in the rest of the electorate – seven percent (7% ) of Republicans and 11% of unaffiliated voters – for such a policy.

You’re the first person to accuse the current tory party of sanity.

We'll see. The UK will be a good experiment. If it works out, the rest of the world may be able to follow.

At least 82% of the UK is fully vaccinated, compared to the US' 63%. Hopefully that comparatively higher vaccination rate will help make this venture successful.

Maybe if you COVID minimizers and MB anti-vaxxers hadn't been so damaging here, we could have reached 90% vaccination levels for those over 12 like the UK and such measures might be acceptable to public health authorities in the US.

Pining for those internment camps no1? If only, if only...

so you dont think biden and harris saying not to take the vaccine, fauci lying, cdc changing requirements on a daily basis has anything to do with people being skeptical?

Been on the roller coaster of hope and despair for two years now, today is going to be a good day. They've tried the 90% vaxxed number hear in NZ,, everyone, true believers and those that love freedom know it's a lie. Please, please, let those responsible be held accountable they can't walk from the damage they've done.

The only good thing to have come from the drama; politicians and media have assumed their rightful place - least trusted profession ever, anywhere.

Follow the science indeed, the political science.

Given that the vaccinated can spread Omicron pretty darn efficiently in any case, I don't see what vaccination levels have to do with what measures are acceptable.

You're going to need to define success.

If you mean the present Omicron wave will fade away, that will happen with or without any interventions.

If you mean COVID will disappear, that's not happening ever unless we get a sterilizing vaccine.

Maybe you could drop by the other thread and deal with the fact that the unvaccinated have a 4.5 to 6 times higher rate of omicron infection than the vaccinated.
