Hope you're right, but there's still plenty of insanity out there. Below is from Rasmussen. Too bad they didn't survey support for just putting the unvaxxed in ovens. I wouldn't be surprised to find 5% of Dems in favor.

Only 5? I wish I were that optimistic.

You're going to need to define success.

If you mean the present Omicron wave will fade away, that will happen with or without any interventions.

If you mean COVID will disappear, that's not happening ever unless we get a sterilizing vaccine.
"Success" meaning that people can live without significant increases in hospitalizations or deaths.

"Define significant"

Can't do, but the world will be watching and the UK could influence, one way other the other, the direction of handling the pandemic.

Well, 5% that would admit it anyway.

If only 18th century France could influence the handling of the ruling class.

Interesting language vivify uses in this thread,

vivify: "We'll see. The UK will be a good experiment..."

...admitting that it's been one great 'experiment' the citizens of the world are the lab hamsters, the politicians are the white coat wearing sadists, inventing new punishments and dangling carrots.

Calling the *stopping* of one act an "experiment" means the exact opposite is also an experiment?

If depriving yourself of water is an experiment, than drinking water each day is also an "experiment", right?

Paragon of logic, this guy.

nice to see somebody admit reality and just roll with it.

Exactly my point, precisely my point, it's all been an experiment, no need to explain logic to me or anyone else here, it may help you to spell it out a letter at a time, your lips were moving as you single finger typed right.

"c" says vivify, types 'c'
"oops, dang it" 'backspace'
"big C" 'C'
mouths "a" types 'a'...

None of that made sense. But okay, buddy.

LMAO! Rasmussen is the absolute worst polling company out there using outmoded methodology but somehow always coming up with the results right wingers want to hear (though they like to "herd" right before elections so they don't look totally foolish).

The Heartland Institute spent most of its formative years taking cash from cigarette companies and then publishing "research" saying smoking wasn't that bad for you. It then moved on to taking money from oil behemoths and saying climate change was a hoax. The Walton family slipped them some bucks and they "discovered" Wal-Mart workers were treated fine and dandy. For more of this, check out their Wikipedia page.

so you dont think biden and harris saying not to take the vaccine, fauci lying, cdc changing requirements on a daily basis has anything to do with people being skeptical?
Did you say skeptical ??
You mean overdosed on KoolAid, don't you ??

Health Secretary Sajid Javid said...

"we must learn to live with Covid in the same way we live with flu".

Of course, the UK never masked in schools under age 12.

Some sanity, at last.
Gee, this "sanity" wouldn't have anything to do with the pressure on Johnson to resign for having parties that violated the COVID rules he put in place? https://www.newsy.com/stories/uk-s-johnson-defies-calls-to-quit-as-ouster-bid-gathers-pace/

Nice point No1. Politicians know two modes:

1: Power tripping.
2: Face saving.

The 'what's good for the people' mode???

You have got to be joking.

Maybe if you COVID minimizers and MB anti-vaxxers hadn't been so damaging here, we could have reached 90% vaccination levels for those over 12 like the UK and such measures might be acceptable to public health authorities in the US.
Australia is at 92% Double vaxed for 12+ and we still have rampant fear in the news, and from some officials. We still have vaccine passports for restaurants, still have to QR code at shops, still have to mask up inside shops, still cannot travel to NZ without quarantine and a vax passport, And I am a NZ citizen. The fear will continue forever, which is totally unacceptable, because this is NEVER going away. Some people thrive on fear. At some point there will be massive uprising to stop the madness. When do you suggest the fear will end?
