I guess in a sarcastic way. Ehiopia says that they're just trying to level the playing field.

But as an American I have to feel that it is in the US interest for Ethiopia to get the upper hand in this.
If you think it's in the US' interest to keep supporting wars against Muslim countries, then get used to attacks against us until our grandchildren are shooting laser beams at "insurgents" in Mecca.

The damage it does is the point of using it. Would Arclight strike be better?

The US stance is in support of the Ethiopian efforts. I'm quite sure that the US govt gave the green light. The militias are leaving the cities; I see pictures of people cheering in Somalia.

And we all know the two sitiuations are completely unanalogous.
Hitler = Ethiopia???

Methinks some people throw around the Hitler comparison reflexively. If they thought about it first, it might not be so old, worn out and boring. Find some new material.

Hitler invaded Czechslovakia, Ethiopia invaded Somalia. Sounds pretty "analogous" to me; maybe you're just not bright enough to figure it out.

EDIT: And when Hitler did, Goebbels had news reels made showing the Czechs waving to and cheering the German invaders. That's pretty analogous, too and what I was referring to. Maybe you should dust off a history book.

As I understand it the leaving of the Islamic militia is leading to the country once again carved up by US backed rival warlords, who the US back because they are fighting the Islamicists, rather than supporting any abstract notions of democracy or freedom. When the UIC took Mogadishu the crowds were cheering as well.

It's always wise to cheer when guys with guns are taking over your town.😛

I wonder which is worst....being blamed for something you haven't done (the US) or sitting in the peanut gallery not doing anything (UN & Europe)?

Sure the US "hasn't done" anything as regards Ethiopia and Somalia?

Less than a week after this meeting, Ethiopia confirmed it had sent "military trainers" to Somalia.

Hitler TOOK Czechoslovakia. The Ethiopians are not taking Somalia. They are removing a threat from power in a neighboring country. Islamic Courts spouted their fat mouths about Jihad, now Ethiopia is slapping they're mouths shut. The Czechs did no such thing.

I agree. One of us should dust off a history book.

Ethiopia. Americas newest frien in the War on Terror. The Eithiopian Gov. is a bunch of thugs too, so I hope that any cooperation between them and the U.S. is limited to smacking down mutual enemies.
