Now the Islamic Courts claim to that region is used as a justification for an Ethiopian invasion! The mind reels.
Hitler TOOK Czechoslovakia. The Ethiopians are not taking Somalia. They are removing a threat from power in a neighboring country. Islamic Courts spouted their fat mouths about Jihad, now Ethiopia is slapping they're mouths shut. The Czechs did no such thing.
I agree. One of us should dust off a history book.
And Ethiopian troops have been in Somalia since October according to the Ethiopian government (which probably means they were there before). SO who is a threat to who?

U.S.-Ethiopian Security Ties Deepen
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia, Oct. 13 (UPI) — The United States, which has a military base in Djibouti, is deepening its ties with neighboring Ethiopia. The Ethiopian Herald reported from Addis Ababa on Oct. 11 that U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for African Affairs Theresa Whelan met with Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi Oct. 10. The pair discussed bilateral American-Ethiopian military cooperation and regional anti-terrorism activities in the Horn of Africa.
A senior Ethiopian official who attended the meeting, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Zenawi and Whelan also discussed the situation in neighboring Somalia, where the militant Union of Islamic Courts has seized control of most of the country.
And one week later, Ethiopia admitted it had "military trainers" in Somalia.
The "poo" seems to be between your ears.

Sure the US "hasn't done" anything as regards Ethiopia and Somalia?

Less than a week after this meeting, Ethiopia confirmed it had sent "military trainers" to Somalia.

And of course Ethipoia was helping the Somali warlords. The Warlords aren't the threat that the Courts are. The warlords never declared war on Ethipoia, The Courts have declared that Jihad crap over and over and over again. It might not meet some peoples legal definition of a declaraion of war, but it should be treated as such.

Islam is the new communism as far as the US is concerned. Time to stamp it out before it gains a strong foothold.
I'm still waiting for some US Senator to asking, "Are you now or have you ever been a member of the nation of Islam?"
And I certainly hope that any member of Congress that tries to pull the same crap as McCarthy gets run out of office on his butt. Immediately.

Funny in the early 90's we were getting guys killed because the Somalia warlords were a threat!
Originally posted by no1marauderYes, the Council was a threat to Ethiopians. Was. Ethipoian troops are already in Mogadishu. They babbled Jihad and got they beaten back. Don't start no sheet, there won't be no sheet.

NATO troops in Mogadishu in the '90's has nothing to do with Ethiopian troops in Mogadishu today. We can talk about foolish western countries making themselves feel better by "bringing security" or "helping" thirld world countries in another thread.

Tell me enlighted one:
1) who provided the weapons and war gear to Somalia and Ethiopia for the last 60 years?
2) Which companies benefit from the natural resource from those countries for the last 60 years?
