Researchers Jennifer Glass (University of Texas, Austin) and Robin Simon (Wake Forest University) found that nonparents reveal higher levels of well-being in most advanced industrialized societies.
This goes to explain why in the Western world birth rates are so low. If we want happy people we need to stop kids from being born.
@Duchess64
If you have never had kids I can see how you might blame it on the cost of healthcare.
This is only the tip of the iceberg.
So why have kids, so the rest of you can mooch off our efforts. We raise the tax base which pays for your future. It is the modern model.
There is exactly zero reason to have kids. Having kids destroys romantic relationships. It is a huge drain on your bank account, sleep, as well as personal time.
If you want to cut down on your sex life, how much money you have for things like nice clothes, vacations, as well as free time, then by all means have kids.
@mott-the-hoople saidThis is absolutely true.
""The cost of childcare may be the real deterrent to having children in the U.S. "
Over in the hood the more you have the more you draw. Democrat handouts encourage fatherless children.
@mott-the-hoople saidThe policies in place actually result in the people least ready to parent to be parents and those who are likely the best candidates as parents have their fruit rot and die on the vine,never having children.

It's a horrible arrangement and a considerable amount of effort is being made everywhere to try to fix this problem.

was not aware of this effort...explain what is being done.
@mott-the-hoople saidIn Hungary, they are now giving a permanent income tax break to any mother who had four kids for the rest of her life:

In Korea, we pay people who have children in the range of $200-600 a month per kid until something like age 6, and then after that there is another $400 or so subsidy that can exist for families below a certain rate per month.
I believe France has something like 1 year long maternity leaves that are honored.
There are more examples out there, I am sure, but I do not believe that the US has any robust system in place.
Civic responsibility inside the bedroom. For some of us this comes naturally, but it shouldn't be left to chance. So I propose there be government issued nanny cams in every bedroom to insure everyone is living up to their civic responsibility.
No more of this "Not tonight, I have a headache" nonsense.
@lemon-lime saidOur civic responsibility because we are our nation 's cattle.

@philokalia saidPoliticians in the US want the US citizens to die off and be replaced by peasant foreigners who have no concept of what freedom is.

The last thing they want is for freedom conscience citizens who are well educated and can think critically to vote.
@philokalia saidhow is that “fixing the problem”?

Very funny.
You do know that most of these citizens are "liberal", right?
So what you mean to say is that this is the last thing you want, voters with a conscience who don't vote against their best interests and can think for themselves.
