On a related point it appears that people are being punished for making inappropriate comments about Charlies death or calling for the wife and kids to be killed. The govt is planning to take action against countries that celebrate this assassination as well. Visa holders and other non US citizens can also get into difficulty if they are found guilty.

What is going on is that the US Govt is monitoring social media and is keeping a record of names and faces of these people. There may come a time these people will want a US Visa and it will be denied. I read many Canadians are celebrating and publicly making this known and they will also be in for a shock if they decide to cross the border.
