What does everyone think about this? Your beautiful 17-yr old daughter is off to University of North Carolina in the Fall, and lo and behold, is assigned a dorm room with an 18 year old boy . She walks in the door and sees this guy in her room. She'd gotten his name, Brook, but was not given his gender.
Uhhh… gender neutral dorms have existed for decades.
Same as gender neutral changing rooms in saunas.

Surely there is a mechanism in place that if you can’t live with a person, you can swap or something?

Various religions don’t permit cross gender inhabitance (or undressing). So, there has to be the possibility of exceptions.

You seem very hung up on this cross gender issue. Do you have a small penis you don’t want people to see?

How is this a "gay-rights issue"?
It isn't, obviously. The fact that some people can't see this is a sad indictment of their (lack of) understanding of sexuality.

Woohoo co-ed dorms. About time. In the land of OZ we've had co-ed showers at some of our top University colleges. Since 2002. Refresh USA. Wake up and join the adults in the rest of the world.

Even though I would go to that college๐Ÿ™‚
The girl has no idea that a man will be in her room (his name Brook could be a boy or girl). So all of your answers are off the mark.
The lurid response of this dirty old man Sonhouse points up my problem with this arrangement.
Further, ...Hey, here is a great question...hahaha...as if you faeries will answer it. You won't....because you are faeries. What would you do if your daughter were facing this scenario? Tell her to get over it? What?

WHY do you little men not answer big questions?????????????????

Gay, Trans, Race,,,,,,,,,,,,You queers are having a field day. I would apologize for using that word, but I think it is standard nomenclature.

Likely, if she’s like “most” college/university students, she would be sharing a house with a group of “folks” starting in her second year some of whom might be “boys”.

Voluntarily, little feller. Are you daft?
Can you believe that Marauder is not going to answer the daughter at the swim meet problem? He won't answer. He says the person swom against his daughter could be anything.
Query this...........It would follow that he will say 'my daughter might not reallhy be a girl'.

Mix ups never happen? Now to be fair I didn’t look at the link. We’re they able to correct the slip up? Oh wait…was the room mate an “ex” male?๐Ÿค”

I seldom look at links, if we were on a debate stage, there would be no links, and there would be judges.
You are like Marauder. Who mentioned slip up? A guy is assigned to room 203, a girl is assigned to the same room. Gender is not mentioned, they will throw people in jail for such discrimination.
It is a surprise to both of them. If the girl is black, and the boy is white, and she complains to the dorm people, they will throw her in jail for discrimination.. My, my what a conundrum.
Ex male? I don't know what that is, but in this scenario, he is a male with all his parts. Are you Marauder???????

Why can no one answer this question? I guess I could have said that the guy is not 'vetted' for rape or whatever, but it would confuse every one of you, so I kept it simple.
My question is not simple for Marauder. Y'all should read his answers. Esp the ones on his daughter being in a swim meet having to compete against a male.
Unbelieveable

1) Ex male…gender reassignment.
2) Are you Marauder?…nope, Great Big Stees.๐Ÿ‘

They wouldn't even be a topic if you didn't engage in them constantly.

No one answers that question because it is a dumb ass question.

If you're talking about her pledging a sorority, those have traditionally been all women. Now there has been some movement recently to have mixed frat houses.

And yes, there is also group housing on campuses now, that has started up recently too.

No I was talking off campus. Both of my kids did their first year in residence and the remaining years renting houses with other students and both had both male and female roommates.
