Soon to cross the 1,5 degree mark.
I sure hope this doesn't negatively affect Sh76's businesses 🙁

Europeans waste approximately 58 to 60 million tonnes of food annually—averaging about 130 kilograms (kg) per person—making food waste a systemic and significant issue across the continent.
Scale and Where Waste Occurs
• Households: Private homes generate over half (about 53% to 54😵 of total food waste in the European Union, averaging roughly 69 to 72 kg per person annually.
• Manufacturing and Processing: Food and beverage production accounts for roughly 18% to 21% of the waste stream through trimming, packaging errors, and surplus management.
• Restaurants and Services: Food service and catering sectors contribute around 11% to 12%.
• Primary Production (Farms): Official Eurostat figures estimate farm-level waste at about 8% to 9%, though environmental audits suggest unharvested crop losses can be much higher if left uncounted.
Primary Drivers of Waste
• Consumer Behavior: Over-purchasing, poor meal planning, and large portion sizes drive the bulk of domestic disposal.
• Date Labels: Misinterpretation of "best before" versus "use by" date labels leads consumers to discard edible items prematurely.
• Cosmetic Standards: Strict supermarket aesthetic requirements result in perfectly edible fruits and vegetables (which comprise nearly half of total wasted produce) being rejected or left unharvested.
Environmental and Economic Impact
• Financial Loss: The market value of discarded food in the EU is estimated at roughly €132 billion to €143 billion per year.
Carbon Footprint: Food waste generates approximately 6% of the EU's total greenhouse gas emissions, carrying a climate impact comparable to a major industrial nation.

@Rajk999 saidCouldn’t agree more. How should we do that?

@Great-King-Rat saidEducate your people instead of arguing nonsense here on RHP.
Couldn’t agree more. How should we do that?

@Great-King-Rat saidThe truth offends. Europeans, Americans, Canadians, Australians, are all wasteful when it comes to food. I have travelled all over these countries and I have seen it first hand. In the homes, in restaurants, in offices, in groceries .. they all dump perfectly good food and they buy far more than they can eat. Groceries and bulk suppliers throw out perfectly good vegetables and fruits because it is not shaped the way the consumer wants it. Farmers often dump surpluses or kill off animals if the market price is likely to fall, thereby creating artificial shortages.
Aw, he went back to default dummy-mode again. Appeared to be going so well for about 30 seconds.
You people need to fix your wastefull attitude before talking about global warming which you have created because of greed and stupidity.

Let me guess, a lot of money needs to be allocated for this right?
@Great-King-Rat
I'm a regular customer of Too Good to Go and Olio and I save an absolute fortune. More companies need to offer this instead of wasting perfectly good food. The amount of food/drink binned by supermarkets and restaurants is criminal.

The global warming is mostly natural. It is warming because we came out of global cooling called the little ice age.

This is what caused the little ice age.

Now ask yourself why the corporate news media will not allow debates about it on the TV news. Propaganda by omission. They don't want you to know the truth. They want to scare you into wanting a carbon tax. They want your money.
@Great-King-Rat saidEverybody wastes food. The food I do not eat is eaten by my chickens, so it is not a complete waste. A lot of food waste from restaurants could be animal feed. Instead it goes into the garbage.
Couldn’t agree more. How should we do that?

@Great-King-Rat saidPretty stupid to call me out specifically. I think human-caused global warming is highly likely, and is a moderate problem for society (I say moderate because I don't think it's end of civilization as we know it).

I also don't know why people like you conflate anti-capitalism with environmentalist.
Well actually, I do think I probably know why...
Because environmentalism isn't the point for most of the political Greens. Environmentalist is the tool; anti-capitalism is the real goal.
