sh76 - Interesting you should mention her. I received an email from Duchess a few weeks ago. She had been helping me with analyzing some of my finished games. As long as we stayed on the subject of chess everything was fine, and her knowledge of the game was impressive. Sadly, she tried to draw me into conversations on other topics, and despite my efforts to keep things friendly, she fell into her ranting about the evil white man. I finally told her I didn't want any more of her negativity and told her not to contact me again. Her last email was a halfhearted attempt at a reconciliation. I wasn't interested. Despite her impressive intellect, she seems like an angry and lonely person.

While I was amused a bit by the overkill, I was impressed that she was genuinely trying to be helpful. I don't think she intended to be nasty in Debates, she just didn't have the social tools to understand what was socially acceptable criticism and what was over the line, from standpoint of vitriol, but also in just taking some things too damn seriously.
It was classic ASD, as far as I could tell. I kind of felt bad for her, but she was ruining the forum and had to go.

Her denial / defence of what the Chinese are doing to the Uyghurs was no less offensive and right wing than any positions taken by alt righters on the forums and her condescending attitude to everyone was always going to make her unpopular.

I don’t think Duchess was lonely or psychologically damaged so much as immersed in a huge population of continental Asian people who are using heavy peer|social pressure to enforce political unity. The Chinese especially are into thought control and reeducation type of methods.
