That's because they're legal and not really regulated.

If fentanyl and meth were unregulated and available in every shopping center, they'd kill far more people than tobacco and alcohol.

You have to draw the line between allowing people to do bad stuff and prohibiting them somewhere. Ice cream and candy kill people too. You can't just prohibit it.

If the people, through their democratically elected government, decide to legalize tobacco and alcohol and proscribe fentanyl and methamphetamine, then that's the enforceable law of the land, and how many people each one kills is beside the point.

Trying to import illegal narcotics into the United States is bad. Trying to import large quantities is really bad, maybe akin to murder. Comparing these people to the CEOs of companies that produce legal substances is beside the point.

I don't see any moral difference. Both know their products will lead to deaths; in the case of tobacco and alcohol far more deaths than recreational drugs. Why one group can be supposedly murdered on sight while the others are considered good corporate citizens with oversized influence on public policy is bizarre once you step outside the box.

These boats are supposedly carrying cocaine which I'd wager about 90% of the Senate has stuck up their individual noses at one time or the other (most of them were in their 20s in the 1980s for Christ's sake). Acting like some low level guys on boats are akin to murderers is ludicrous hypocrisy.

What a load of nonsense. By far the biggest cause of poor health and premature death is rubbish food, the kind the US is famous for. Alcohol accounts for about 4% of deaths worldwide, smoking about 9% and the rest is attributable to junk food. So people like Monsanto, KFC, McDonalds, manufacturers of corn syrup, soft drink manufacturers. All these companines knnow that their products are unhealthy and leads to diabeties, cancer, heart disease, stroke, kidney failure eetc etc.

What you are missing is that hard drugs are illegal in almost all countries and all governments are trying to eliminate these people, but because of stupid 'due process' red tape, they often escape.

It makes no difference who tried hard drugs in the past. Of what relevance is that?
