Here is your chance. List for us who you view to be the most lame and pathetic politican figures of our time......scratch that, of all time!!

For me, I think Neville Chamberlain has to top the list who was the author of appeasement to the Nazi war machine.

Of course, being a conservative I have to also point to progressive conservatives...as if that is possible. Progressive conservatives try to appease both sides of the political spectrum but only end up being hated by both sides. Of recent memory I think "W" should top the list. He not only destroyed the Republican party single handidly in 2008, he also laid waste the family political legacy to the extent even his brothers have not political future. To a lesser degree I would also list John McCain who was a loser of countless presidential bids. His last go round, however, he also got burned by the "W" legacy as the left successfully drug him down with it.

Why not Édouard Daladier? The French were arguably capable of stopping Germany in the late 1930s while the British were not.

How parochial and intellectually poverty stricken can an historical perspective get?

I wouldn't call them "pathetic". Ego-maniacs,yes. But not pathetic. My choices are pathetic!

not Merrill - but the 1980's version of George Steinbrenner and his pathetic revolving manager policy and the infamous Columbus shuttle - Merrill was simply one of the unlucky losers to be stuck with the deck Steinbrenner left behind in the wake of the Winfield exile.

On the other hand, the post-exile Steinbrenner was a model on being able to learn from past mistakes.

Maybe, but Merrill led the New York Yankees- the NEW YORK YANKEES- to 2 straight 90+ loss seasons. THE NEW YORK YANKEES!

Maybe it was all George's fault, but you can't call him pathetic. He's had more success than any other team since he bought the team.

Just because you put Yankee uniforms on pitchers like Wade Taylor, Jeff Johnson, and Tim Leary does not mean they magically turn into CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, and Andy Pettitte.

I'm not saying George was pathetic overall. Just the 1980's version. All those Roman numerals. All those absurd firings. The alienation of Yogi Berra. The whole concept of Billy V. The Winfield issue.
