The woeful lack of intellectual calibre and curiosity of our resident right wing broken record holders is coming to the fore here. Faced with the sweeping question of Histories [sic] most pathetic political figures all they can do is regurgitate their own reswallowed vomit about the likes of Charlie Rangel, John Kerry, Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Harry Reid, Barak Obama, George W.Bush. Once again, this thread strikes me as a classic monument to obsessive, carping, tedious, paranoid, partisan, parochial, ideological dreck and a clinical, almost unhinged lack of perspective or proportion. You, gentlemen - you know who you are - are quite simply beyond parody.πŸ™„

One can only speculate what would have happened, had the Roman Catholic Church never been founded. But not much good has come from that organization.
Liberation theology came from the catholic priests in Latin America and it is a damned good thing.

So good of a thing that the idiots at the Vatican didn't liked it at all.

Shimon Peres - president of Israel.

Whining as a child when attacked, almost crying.
But attacking himself his neighbors ten-fold as much, killing ten-fold as much, against Palestinians less then ten-fold weaker.

He is pathetic.

Since you don't seem to know much about Israel or the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in general, I suppose it's not surprising that you'd make this mistake as well; but Shimon Peres is not a political leader. He is a figurehead; like the Queen of England. He has nothing to do with the decision to attack anyone.

Mark Anthony deserves a vote as well.

Brilliant as a military leader and a war Consigliere to Caeser. But once Caeser was killed, he lost rule of the empire to a man who was little more than a child.

One of my pathetic political figures is stepping down from his post "temporarily".

10 adjectives and 4 nouns describing the same thing.

That's what makes you great.

Octavius was 31 years old when his fleet defeated Anthony's at Actium; hardly "little more than a child".

How old was Octavius when Caeser was assassinated? That was the point at which Anthony could have seized power and consolidated it in himself.

The president opf Israel is in charge, whoever he is. He is Israel personified.

If *he* want to solve the conflict, *he* can do it. He is pathetic when he thinks he can kill their way out of the conflict.

If not Shimon Peres, then who is pathetic in Israel, according to you?

<sigh>

The position is largely an apolitical ceremonial figurehead role. with executive real power lying in the hands of the Prime Minister.

...

To ensure the apolitical nature of the role, the president may "neither intervene politically nor express personal views on issues that divide the public".

Really, Fabian, this is not a winning argument for you. If you want an Israeli scapegoat, look at the Prime Minister or the Foreign Minister or at least to someone with some actual power.

Now, Peres was PM for a while in the 1980s and again in the 1990s. So, if you want to argue that he was a pathetic leader based on his stints as PM 15 and 25 years ago, then great. But first, maybe read up on his stints as PM (starting, for example, at when it happened) before you put forth your argument. Just a word to the wise.
