@Sleepyguy saidWell at least the mask is off.
I don't care. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness that should not be treated with harmful surgery. In my view, it should be a crime for any person to perform such surgery on another person (except in the case of a genuine birth defect or something).
I have no idea why backwards ideas such as yours should rule over established medical practice though. Certainly it gives the lie to any claim that right wingers have a coherent political belief in "limited government."
@Mott-The-Hoople saidSo you're in the "a man can have a vagina" camp?
there is no such thing as "sex change"
you are a mentally ill pervert
Grafting a dick onto a woman doesn't make her a man any more than painting myself black would make me African American.
Now, I don't agree with SG that it should be banned. People have all types of invasive surgeries for no good reason, and if adults want to wreck their bodies after giving fully informed consent, government shouldn't stop it.
I'm also perfectly happy to be polite to people. If a man wants me to refer to him as she or xe or they or gorp, I'll do it. What do I care?
But to the extent that the law does legitimately distinguish between men and women, it must do so based on reality, not based on what people "feel" or "want."
A person with Y chromosomes in (almost) every cellular nucleus in his body is a male, regardless of how his genitalia look. Now, if they ever figure out a gene therapy that could re-program the cellular nuclei to change the cells in his body to XX, then we can talk about changing the legal recognition of the person's sex.
@sh76 saidBesides the fact that when a baby is born we say "It's a boy" or "It's a girl" based on It's genitalia without doing a chromosome test, biology can be a bit tricky:https://medlineplus.gov/genetics/condition/swyer-syndrome/

@no1marauder saidPreventing people from harming others is a legitimate function of government.

@no1marauder saidyou confuse birth defects with gender

@Sleepyguy saidTelling willing patients what accepted medical treatments they are not allowed to have isn't.
Preventing people from harming others is a legitimate function of government.
@no1marauder saidSo if someone identifies as an amputee and wants a doctor to remove his leg, you think it should be legal for the doctor to lop one off?
Telling willing patients what accepted medical treatments they are not allowed to have isn't.
@Sleepyguy saidIs that an "accepted medical practice"?
So if someone identifies as an amputee and wants a doctor to remove his leg, you think it should be legal for the doctor to lop one off?
Is gender affirming surgery? Do doctors agree with your assessment that it causes "harm" in all cases?
@no1marauder saidAccepted by whom, the doctors taking advantage of mentally ill people, harming them to make some money? We should say no.

@no1marauder saidLOL...you are looking rather foolish

@Sleepyguy saidFunny, I thought it was a doctor's job to treat people with "illnesses".

Here learn something again and maybe we can get rid of your ignorance though you seem bent on keeping the hate: https://www.psychiatry.org/patients-families/gender-dysphoria/what-is-gender-dysphoria
@Sleepyguy saidThe AMA rather strongly disagrees with your idea that gender affirming treatment, including surgery where necessary, causes "harm". In fact, it is generally beneficial to the mental health of those who receive it in their professional opinion.https://www.ama-assn.org/press-center/press-releases/ama-reinforces-opposition-restrictions-transgender-medical-care

what percentage receiving treatment and surgery would it help?
What percentage of the population has this mental condition?
