How's "socialist" California doing?

Debates

That doesn't even make sense.

The opportunities present in advanced economic systems today would not exist if your philosophy had been adopted. Reformist movements have made capitalism a lot more bearable than the laissez faire hellhole that you scream for.
Of course the main hinderance to becoming an independent person or starting a small business is the goobermint hurdles, regs, licenses, and stumbling blocks that you are such a fan of.

@no1marauder
If 20 people, each with diff talents, all end up on an island after a boat sinks, they form a society, and each ‘craft’ is enjoyed by the society. Probably the one who works the hardest, providing something reeaallyy enjoyed (beer?) by everyone, earns more money than the others. Oh my god. What to do? Marauder, do you think the Society Council should step in and remedy this inequality? Marauder, really, what should be done to qualify the society to exist with your guidelines as you have mentioned in this thread? C’mon.

Yeah, they'll be a lot of money to earn on that island.

I suggest you actually study how small bands of people actually lived. You'll be shocked to find out that they were cooperative and egalitarian and the inequalities you think of as "natural" didn't exist.

@no1marauder said
What do you think the purpose of society is, Joe?

Why did people form it?

What "liberty" is afforded someone who must sell himself to another so the other can profit from his labor?

These are questions you don't ever seem to have asked yourself.

EDIT: AOC's policies are quite modest compared to real socialism; they are little more than updated versions of FDR ...[text shortened]... ncreases in income and wealth the top 10% and esp. the top 1% have amassed in the last four decades.
MIGHT ??!? have to pay more taxes? 90 Trillion will be needed for Cortez and Kamala and Yang and Cory (what ever happened to Smith and Jones) programs.

See my answer to society above. A pleasant society on an island where one guy works harder and is more successful than others !, Not your kind of guy!

Use your imagination. Just change the 20 people to 59,000 people. Libs pretend to not get it, but I caught you pretending!,

Then, answer the question please. What would you do to correct the problem of some people making more money than other people it’s a simple question

I don't believe there should be "private property":
🏆. Finally, one of y’all had the guts to say this. This is the bellwether of our society, which you want to end. Absolutely the most amazing post i’ve seen since I first read posts here.

Ya think?

Actually the biggest hindrance is lack of access to capital, which is also the #1 cause of small business failures. Banks are more in the speculation business now; what funds they do lend out now are largely reserved for large enterprises.

Do you think that the society they create will be more akin to socialism or capitalism?

And who is more valuable to that society?
The doctor, the fisherman, the builder?

Childs lemonade stand requiring very little capital to start up gets shut down by regs. No.1 get's excited and starts power tripping.

No ... its finance.

Finance to cover licensing, permits, taxes and an accountant.

In small hunter-gatherer type bands of people, those who work harder or more effectively (e.g. good hunters) tend to have higher social status and garner more respect within their group. They do not hoard resources for themselves since greed, envy and spite and considered undesirable traits by most.

It works similarly in a Nordic economy, where in principle everyone has their basic needs met, but there are variations in people's social status and people still strive to get "good" jobs despite not needing to do so to survive or live comfortably.
