According to this article, the biggest threat to mankind is not something like global warming, not even Trump.

No, the biggest threat is artificial intelligence.

No, whodey, the biggest threat, at least to the US, is an uninformed electorate, as evidenced by you and Mr. Hoople.

The biggest threat to what?

The biggest threat to the US way of life may well be INTELLIGENCE.
But that is not enough without EDUCATION.

I have faith that there will be a US revolution and that they will embrace
mainstream world-wide policies such as free health care and other "leftie"
ideals. The US can be a leader. Then maybe AI will liberate everyone?

Too many things could happen.

I do not yet have an opinion.

But I think that we will definitely tend to create AI that will reflect our own biases and ideals, and it will perhaps give us answers that we wanted to hear.

It goes back also to the interesting question of how intelligence needs to be embodied to have meaning -- and we will "embody" it in our framework, and it might show way too much.

Scary, isn't it?
Let's hope the good people use it to the bad people only.
The question is - who decides the difference between the good and the bad people? The other ones? Or we?

Everyone knows there aint no such thing as a free lunch.

Everyone understands you either pay for it yourself or you make someone else pay for it. Either way, that isn't free.

No. Not even close.

But no wonder that the far right starts another scare scenario coming from technology and progress.

The problem with AI is the learning curve.

We learn by trial and error / rationalization, etc.
AI learns by algarithms (or however it’s spelled).

The conclusions are / can be fundamentally different.
And therefore we can not give AI decision making powers.

This is in fact VERY scary.

Most scary is the Applause during the Demonstration.

Read Louis Fieser's autobiography to meet a Person who is "just solving Problems" without ethics...

Yes, only the good people use it on the bad people.

Cross our fingers.
