Is there a convincing enough alternate reason why a woman has yet to be elected to that position?

Is it a case of the experts second guessing the ordinary person in the street such that on a personal level people they would say, 'I don't have a problem with that, but if we want our party to win, can we risk another 4 years when its not that clear if the people out there will be convinced enough to buy it?'

Your question is too leading. Rephrase it to something like: Can Condoleeza Rice become the first female president of the United States?

Would Condoleeza Rice be taken seriously as a contender for the presidency of the United States, or will she be lampooned to the point of distraction that whatever her talents come election time all voters will ever remember will be her skinny legs and her robo-doll walk?

Impossible. As everyone knows, James Buchanan was the first female President of the United States.

The use of "too" implies America is misogynistic to an excessive degree,
but you have yet to prove America is misogynistic at all.

Sure one can dredge the depths of the sludge pond and find examples
of individual misogynism, but the whole country...please!

Yeah, we are.

We're afraid of them, I think they want my sack.
Can't trust 'em, they'll start crying when it looks like a fight .. too much like Euorpean men.

What would they want with an empty sack?

I think women should lead nations. With their nuturing traits, you would have no more wars, just very intense negotiations every 28 days!🙂
