So aren't we at a point where we can admit that both the Left and Right are going to 'dat's not real Scotsman' us?

Maybe we can have an honest discussion now that we know that someone will Dat's Not Real inevitably, and we can just talk about the merits of both systems, and come to a conclusion.

....

What if I told you that modified forms of Capitalism got ...[text shortened]... if we just say that the original premise of this thread, mocking Capitalism, is a little bit stupid.
Then you would be equivalent to an American Leftist and the American Right would call you Socialist.

So, Capitalism is exploitative in nature, yet it is the thing that has made it so young South Koreans are addicted to gaming on their smartphones...
Very few things are more indicative of the exploitative nature of capitalism than an entire generation being addicted to gaming on their smartphones.

Why you would present this as a positive thing is beyond me.

Does being addicted to gaming on their smartphones sound good to you??

I think the main problem with many Americans is their confusion about socialism being tantamount to communism.
The socialism I grew up with had capitalism at its heart whilst having social ownership of certain industries of strategic importance with regard to managing the economy and providing basic utilities to the population out with the capitalist market.
The argument was based on the idea that an individual should not make a profit out of another individuals need for water or any basic human requirement, the water wasn’t free it cost the amount required to supply the Labour and materials necessary to supply the product.
Importantly nobody had to give up any freedoms whatsoever.
Perhaps if we could agree on a definition of ‘luxury’ goods and services which could be provided by free market capitalism whilst goods and services defined as ‘essential’ could be provided by state controlled entities.
Most of the publicly owned industries and service providers that I grew up with in the UK are now part of the free market and anybody who assumes this has brought greater or even equal levels of efficiency and quality to the consumer is very badly delusional.

I can only assume that they do not wish to see a difference or they actually cannot due to the longevity and depth of the anti socialist policy campaign from government, mass media and religion, as interpreted from right wing fundamentalist pulpits.
If your going to stand by whilst your fellow citizens go hungry and cold, without shelter or decent health care then having a red eyed demon bearing the alternative is quite useful.

I think the point is they have the luxury of time due to prosperity. Like the US haters who like to make something of obesity in the US, it's because of abundance.. Prosperity and abundance are good things but can be misused.

You would have to define ‘fellow citizens ‘. Tell me, are they able bodied in a society with over 7 million unfilled jobs? Just curious

Conttare’ Obesity is the result of making bad choices. Surely you know yourself what not to do to avoid getting fat. Who does not know that.. I guess I have seen too many fat people at fast food restaurants, I think they must want to be fat.j I guess I have seen too many fat people at fast food restaurants, I think they must want to be fed.

Because of capitalism, I lived well in America.

Because of capitalism, young Koreans today all have thousand dollar smartphones and their biggest social ills are computer game addiction and studying too much.

Sixty years ago, they were malnourished and oppressed.

Capitalism works generally well but it does have its flaws.
But Capitalism has flawed, therefore it is failing and broken!

Please follow the half wit logic.

Save us AOC!!

Rather than trying to fix capitalism, we should be seeking to replace it.

Replace it with what??

It's easy to point out shortcomings in any system, but fixing them is the difficult part.
