    The legal principle would be that if actions undertaken by an actor in State A cause harm in State B the actor can be liable for punishment in State B. That's an almost universally accepted principle as far as I know. The classic law school example is if Person A shoots across the border at Person B in a different country; Person A would be criminally responsible in Person B's country even if he never set foot in it.

    I didn't say that. All I said was that Assange is doing the same thing the NY Times has done many times during the past 10 years.
