Have you forgotten the hypothetical scenario we were talking about or are you deliberately pretending to not know this is about Russia nuking Poland and nobody else?
Here it is again: Russia nukes Poland (a NATO country) and Putin announces to the world that they used X number of nukes because Poland had X number of US nukes they had to take out. Putin warns all NATO nations to not nuke Russia because they have return addresses and Russia will nuke any country that nukes Russia and do they really want to have the same problems Poland has for hosting US nukes too close to Russia.
Once again, will all NATO nations with nuclear weapons nuke Russia all at once?
And once again that would still be MAD. All out nuclear war between NATO and Russia. Will NATO commit nuclear suicide or back down?
This is a simple thought experiment to see if MAD is like a one way street for you. You keep saying Russia would never nuke the USA because it would be MAD suicide, but if Russia only nukes Poland would all NATO nations dare nuking Russia?
You seem to think nuking will end there if WW3 starts and NATO only uses conventional weapons and not nukes, but that would give Russia confidence they can nuke another NATO country without being nuked in retaliation. So if Germany sends troops to fight Russia Germany gets nuked too and Putin announces the same warning for other suicidal nations.
