@Rajk999 saidYou need to define socialism. I don't think you know what it is. You just heard it was bad so you went with it. You don't even know why it is bad. You could not explain why if you tried.
Many countries have universal health care ... fool. Why are you so blind that you are unable to see that from these countries come millions of refugees who risk their lives trying to escape these tyrannical rulers.
Something is wrong with these countries ... and you.
You are digressing though. Is Venezuela a democracy?
Venezuela offered Exonn/Mobile a deal and they refused so they were kicked out of Venezuela. They were offered restitution under UN law. They didn't steal anything without offered compensation. There was just a dispute to the worth of it. In other words, Exxon was being a cry baby about it. A ruling was made.

@Rajk999 saidHow many Mexicans have fled to come here?
I live near these people and I dont need any proof. Maduro is a delusional dunce, just like your type. If you need proof Google it.
Here let me help you. You seem lame:

Approximately 7.9 million Venezuelans have fled their country since 2014, with the vast majority doing so during Nicolás Maduro's presidency. This makes it one of the largest ...[text shortened]... ve at an average rate of approximately 2,000 per day.

Capitalism is a failure there despite no sanctions.
Maduro is the legitimate democratically elected president of Venezuela.
When Hakeem Jeffries said he is a dictator and nobody disputes that he lied. That is what people say when they don't want you to dispute something.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidTrump said Machado did not have the support. That means most Venezuelans do not want her. Even your hero Trump slipped and admitted she didn't win the election.
Venezuela is NOT a democracy, it is a thug-ocracy.
Every time a decent opposition candidate emerges, Maduro goes to work either exiling said candidate,
putting them in prison, or making them ineligible to run for office.
BLEEP Maduro. I couldn't think of a better way to waste a dime's worth of lead.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidMaría Corina Machado is an insurrectionist. She is guilty of treason.
moron,
google: how many opposition candidates has Maduro of Venezuela arrested or put into exile?
Nicolás Maduro's government has arrested and exiled numerous opposition figures, with thousands detained, though exact numbers for "candidates" are fluid; prominent examples include
Edmundo González (forced into exile after an arrest warrant), María Corina Machado a ...[text shortened]... after the disputed 2024 election, totaling over 2,000 political prisoners by late 2024
@Metal-Brain saidVenezuela's elections are not fair at all. And Maduro had many opponents in jail, and Machado had to campaign in hiding
Trump said Machado did not have the support. That means most Venezuelans do not want her. Even your hero Trump slipped and admitted she didn't win the election.

@Metal-Brain saidMachado is a revolutionary. And there are 1,000 or so political prisoners now being let out of jail.
María Corina Machado is an insurrectionist. She is guilty of treason.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidShe called for the USA to overthrow the government there. She is guilty of treason.

@Metal-Brain saidGood. I'll shake her hand when I see her.
She called for the USA to overthrow the government there. She is guilty of treason.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidWhy is Venezuela bad while Saudi Arabia is good? Can you explain it?
Good. I'll shake her hand when I see her.
@Metal-Brain saidyou're way off track
Why is Venezuela bad while Saudi Arabia is good? Can you explain it?
@Martin saidIt is obnoxious to so blatantly use AI to respond and not acknowledge it.
To answer the thread title:
No, Venezuela is widely considered an authoritarian state, not a democracy, despite its official status as a federal presidential republic; under leaders Hugo Chávez and Nicolás Maduro, the country has seen democratic backsliding, with political rights, civil liberties, and fair elections dismantled, leading to severe restrictions and a humanitar ...[text shortened]... mocratic principles are largely absent, according to numerous analyses and monitoring organizations.
@Earl-of-Trumps saidNo, you are evading an explanation.
you're way off track
You can detect propaganda by noticing double standards. The claim we are bringing democracy to the world is a BS lie. The empire does not care about democracy. It cares about oil being traded in US dollars. Saudi Arabia has done that for a long time so that dictatorship is tolerated by the empire. Here are some countries that did not sell their oil in US dollars:
Iraq
Libya
Venezuela
What do these countries also have in common? The USA invaded them and made them sell oil in US dollars only. That props up the US dollar and keeps it's dominance as the world reserve currency. That is why Iran is next. You can see a clear pattern here.
It is time to stop calling this a conspiracy theory. The shareholders of the FRS are behind these wars for US dollar dominance. That is why the shareholders of the FRS are a big secret. You would know who to blame.
@Metal-Brain
Fairly good and discussable points, however, you are way off base here.
Please read: the title of the thread is "Is Venezuela a democracy?"
PS: as per Breitbart, there are still 777 political prisoners being held in squalor and are being tortured.
