@vivify saidI don't think a German victory in Europe was likely even without Pearl Harbor. PH didn't impact the winter 1941 German defeats outside Moscow at all, and impacted Stalingrad only marginally. Germany wasn't going to win in Europe unless it defeated the USSR.
I meant if not for getting the U.S. involved in the war by bombing Pearl Harbor, the Axis Power's victory in Europe was quite realistic, if not guaranteed.
EDIT: But then again, Pearl Harbor actually proves your point about dictators not being aware of their own limitations.
On the other hand, I agree that without PH, Japan might have secured a much better deal in east Asia. If Japan had bypassed the Philippines and attacked only the Dutch and British possessions in east Asia (which had all the raw materials and oil they needed), the US might not have intervened at all. If we would have, it would have been a 10,000 mile pull under enemy air superiority in a war that probably would have been opposed by almost half the country. Who knows whether the US would have sustained its fighting spirit for long in such an adventure.
Without attacking the US, it's very possible Japan would have secured some sort of face-saving peace agreement like the North Vietnamize did.
@sonhouse saidI think you enjoy getting riled up.
@Metal-Brain
And YOU being a nice tame commie, RELISH the day when the Soviet empire lives again and the Ukraine war is just phase one of that push.
Moldavia and Poland would be next. The Russian assshole have already said that.
"When we invade Poland we won't be so nice as we are treating our Ukrainian brothers'' is what one Russian general said.
So kiss my ass you POS commie you have ZERO credibility here and always will.
@sh76 saidYou're probably right. I was thinking about Japanese forces unencumbered by battles with America being a greater factor.

@sonhouse saidThat is a conspiracy theory. You have no evidence for that. Putin certainly never said that. You heard that from a politician. Newsflash: they lie. From the same people that brought you WMDs in Iraq. Anthrax from Iraq that was later proven to be from the US lab. Babies being thrown out of incubators.
@Metal-Brain
It isn't the Russian population wanting the USSR back it is Putin and his crones.
And you knew that full well COMRADE.
When are you going to grow up and scrutinize what politicians tell you. They lie.
@Metal-Brain
His GENERALS have already said they want to invade Poland and you insult my intelligence when you say Putin would never do that.
He is a thug barbarian dictator where critics get poisoned to death or put in jail for decades.
His general, one of them already said 'we won't be so nice to you Poles, like we were with our Ukrainian brothers'......
And now Putin threatens nukes.
And you think he doesn't have expansion on his so called mind?
That is ALWAYS what dictators do.
And you ADORE Putin.
Good luck with that COMRADE.
@Metal-Brain
Stop being intellectually lazy. Try thinking for yourself for a weird moment in time as incredible as that may seem.
