What do you and Fran do for a living ?

I checked out the web page and have to say that nothing has carried me so entirely to a place, and made me feel so perfectly at home, as Farmland News !!!
I'd encourage people to buy your books !!!

After I had read a couple, though, they became pretty predictable and thoroughly tiresome. Since no one else seems willing to step up to the plate to defend the President, I'm here to take a couple of swings.
Bush is a liar and a war monger.
Bush is a threat to the security of the world.
The deaths of up to 100,000 Iraqi's and coalition soldiers are just the start in a world where violence is being accepted as standard, the balance of power is changing and nuclear weapons abound.
Bush also breeds terrorism.
America, stop living in denial and impeach Bush n ...[text shortened]... h's costly political campaign.
Demonstrate with all your might and remind others to do so too.
I submit to STANG that any reasonable person serving as president of the United States post-9/11 would have behaved precisely as Mr. Bush has done regarding Iraq.
In case anyone has forgotten, the United Nations Security Council passed 15 Resolutions calling for Saddam Hussein and the country of Iraq to "come clean" regarding WMD. Mr. Hussein ignored every one of them, even going so far as to throw the U.N. inspectors out of Iraq. This is all historical fact.
[Here, for your researching enjoyment, are the 15 Resolution numbers to which I am referring:
687 (04/03/1991)
688
707
715
949
1051
1060
1115
1134
1137
1154
1194
1205
1284
1441 (11/08/2002)]
You'll note that many of the resolutions call for Mr. Hussein to cooperate with IAEA inspectors which, in case you've forgotten, deal with nuclear materials and their processing. Also as a reminder, Mr. Hussein treated these resolutions with the utmost contempt.
That Mr. Hussein had, at one time, both possessed and used WMD is beyond dispute. He used poison gas against the Iranians during the Iran/Iraq war. He also used poison gas against the civilian Kurd population living in northeastern Iraq. That he had, at one time at least, pursued nuclear weapon capabilities is very well-known. Therefore, to argue that there was never any WMD in Iraq is vacuous.
Now, if you would please, put yourself in Mr. Bush's place post-September 11, 2001. Thousands of American citizens are dead as the result of a premeditated and highly-coordinated attack carried out by Islamic Fascists.
The absolute number-one priority of the government of the United States became preventing another attack, especially an attack using WMD. Where in the world might one find an American-hating, terrorism-supporting Islamic state that not only had access to WMD, but had actually used them in anger?
In case you're a little slow, we're describing Iraq.
Not even as the United States publicly and pointedly geared up for war did Mr. Hussein relent and allow the inspectors to do their work.
Not even after the United States neutralized Afghanistan, that teeming nest of Islamic terroristic hatred, did Mr. Hussein relent and allow the inspectors to do their work.
Mr. Bush was absolutely correct to remove Saddam Hussein, mass-murderer and despot almost without equal in modern history, from power in Iraq. And I, for one, thank God for Mr. Bush's resolve every single day.
The American invasion of Iraq was justified by any measure of a reasonable international standard of pre-emptive self-defense.
And there is as much chance of Mr. Bush being impeached for his actions regarding Iraq as there is of STANG's becoming America's next president. Get over it.
And please, have a great day.

Thank you very much. By the way, what's a "rec"?
I submit that America would have done the same thing as Saddam in ignoring the UN resolutions.
I submit that there were alternatives to killing up to 100,000 people, losing coalition lives and billions of dollars that could have been spent on the research into alternative energy sources, poor, AIDS, etc.
I submit that Bush lied about WMD's and had personal financial interests in pipe lines and military equipment manufacturers. At the very least, Bush should be subject to a thorough investigation on a scale never seen before.

Correct me if I'm wrong (seriously), but I seem to remember that the weapons inspectors themselves were reasonably happy with the progress they were making, and it was the US and its allies that were unhappy with the progress. Iraq wasn't fully compliant
I'd also point out that the US is the only country that not only has undoubtedly had nuclear weapons, but has used them. By your own argument, how long can every OTHER country eye the US as an Asian-hating menace?
The point being there has to be a time limit and an allowance for change to occur. Most of the evidence suggests to me that change WAS occurring in Iraq.
Even if Iraq still had WMDs and we just haven't found them, is there any credible evidence of a threat to America? A threat to middle Eastern neighbours, sure, but as far as I understand Iraq never had the capacity to launch a missile at New York, or even as far as Europe. So exactly what kind of threat are we discussing?
