For what its worth, in Australia we've seen a management of daily infection rates that have stayed very low with lock-downs and mandated mask wearing. What we have also noted is that as soon as the numbers settle and government gives in to pressure to return back to normal, within a week or so, the daily infection rates climb exponentially and as the mortalities stack up, it s ...[text shortened]... to you I suppose. But for the US with over 500,000 people dead, that 2.4% represents 12,000 people.

And thinking back on that, our idea of what freedom was, with all the travel restrictions and increased profiling and metal detectors and body scanners and cameras snapping images of your facial features from every building, completely changed. We gave up so much freedom in the name of stopping terrorism, but that same patriotic group has steadfastly refused to take precautions against COVID because the enemy is invisible.
