Johns Hopkins Study - COVID Lockdowns Futile

“lockdowns have had little to no public health effects,” and have “imposed enormous economic and social costs where they have been adopted.”
------------------------------------

Commentary:
People think the issue, lockdowns, is a medical issue but it is not, it is a political one.
If you are a totalitarian at heart you will back lockdowns no matter what, and conversely,
if you are a freedomist you do not want lockdowns no matter what.

Is this all the right can talk about today on their talking head broadcasts?

Wildly overblown. Any studies on how many lives they saved?

Yes, genius, the one being discussed.

In the absence of any data that might be generated if an alternative option had been pursued, it is often too easy to make that claim based on the current data generated by the path that was taken.
If the above sentence was too complicated for you ..........

One can speculate how many deaths would have occurred if there had been no lockdown from the start. 5X, 10X, 15X ???
But then the deniers will scream out ....... Proof !! Proof !! Proof !!
Enough said.....

Your reasoning is faulty.....With a new disease,
there are many things that scientists do not know,
THATS WHY THEY DO STUDIES,.......
A natural assumption would be a lockdown to
avoid spreading the virus.......SO NOW,
AFTER THIS STUDY, THEY BETTER UNDERSTAND
What, you think 'lockdowns' are desired BY ANYONE>>??
.............hello?............anyone home

Lockdowns are only as effective as the ability to enforce them. In the U.S. conservatives protested and openly defied lockdowns;. There were protests at the Michigan state capitol involving armed protestors. And so on.

Lockdowns don't work when a large percent of the population won't abide by them.

Exactly, just like mask mandates, and Trump rallies with nary a mask in sight, like the one that killed Herman Cain.

Correct. There are too many variables the study doesn't account for, like the availability (or lack) of mask mandates, vaccination mandates, partisan political opposition to Covid prevention measures, etc.

It should be pointed that the report *only* studied mortality rates. From the study:

https://sites.krieger.jhu.edu/iae/files/2022/01/A-Literature-Review-and-Meta-Analysis-of-the-Effects-of-Lockdowns-on-COVID-19-Mortality.pdf

We only include studies that attempt to establish a relationship (or lack thereof) between lockdown policies and COVID-19 mortality or excess mortality. We exclude studies that use cases, hospitalizations, or other measures.

So the study explicitly states it does *not* factor whether lockdowns were effective in reducing Covid cases or reducing hospitalizations from Covid. It *only* looked at mortality rates.

Like always, conservatives misrepresent the findings of studies for their own agenda.

Notice the Breitbart article in the OP did not link to the report. I suspect it was to keep that part of the study hidden.

Propaganda only works with ignorance.
