Karjakin banned because ukraine war

After FIDE has politicized sport and has done it in a selective, biased manner, hypocritically responding to the Ukraine war, while being completely silent concerning other wars like the Afghanistan and Iraq wars, I will never again participate in any FIDE tournaments or events. I do not believe that FIDE is indeed acting against wars, rather, it seems that FIDE has chosen a side in the war between the West and Russia, FIDE has been weaponized.

I am considering whether to cancel my correspondence chess tournaments in the ICCF, belonging to FIDE. ICCF has not yet made any sharp announcements.

Fortunately, I am not a grandmaster and chess is not my life, so I can sacrifice chess to save the integrity of my moral views.

if Karjakin is banned, how is going to be the Candidates Tournament?

I am not here to decide whether the Russian or the Western propaganda is right.

@Schlecter

I just checked Karjakin's tweets on Twitter. He is of the opinion that FIDE has completely compromised itself and, in the future, there are several chess federations, FIDE remains for the children.

His security guarantees included the US and nato reverting back to the soviet era defensive line probably in order to make his annexation Ukraine and the rest of Eastern and Central Europe a lot less messy.
You cannot appease an expansionist dictator you can only contain or kill them.
Russian demand concerning rolling NATO back to its 1994 borders was the only unreasonable proposal they made. It was not motivated by the security guarantees but by the feeling that NATO has broken its promises. The other demands were reasonable and negotiable.

Your view about Russia's real intentions is a guess. It might be true, but your guess is not the only plausible explanation. As a matter of fact, the most reasonable explanation of Russian demands was explicitly written into the text of these demands. Russia was worried about the NATO expansion and Russia's security.

You are calling Putin an expansionist dictator. Let me remind you that since the beginning of the 1990s, when the Soviet Union had collapsed, it has been NATO that has swelled. Neither Russia nor Putin have continuously expanded.

I do not respond to your comments anymore because your text is not an argumentation, it is a psychological manipulation instead.

Karjakin was banned for 6 months. He was eligible to participate in the Candidates Tournament but he cannot anymore.

You do not know the content of that "Russian propaganda".
You do not know what is true and what is false in that propaganda.
You do not know what did Karjakin actually say.
You do not understand how my views are different from Karjakin's views.
But everyone should understand that it is you who is making propaganda here and who is slandering other people.

Now, I have discovered that since 13 March, Karjakin has politicized chess.
On 13 March 2022, Karjakin has created a Telegram channel "Chess Patriotism".

https://t.me/karjakinchess

However, FIDE complained about Karjakin's behaviour already on 27 February 2022, three days after the Russian invasion of Ukraine began. Probably, FIDE's complaint was based on two or three of Karjakin's Twitter tweets.

Karjakin believes that the Ukrainians have committed genocide in Donbas for 8 years, killing thousands of people. He seems to assume that it justifies the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. But even if the claim about genocide is true, it is not easy to conclude that the present massive war can be justified by the fact that during 8 years, 15 000 people were killed.

NATO expanded organically by other nations requesting inclusion in the alliance. There is a difference between expansion by invasion and expansion growth and it’s a very important difference for Putin’s neighbours.
What’s happening in Ukraine is exactly why Russias other neighbours joined NATO. Russia has no history of democracy in the form that most people would recognise. It went from a Tsarist to a Leninist/Stalinist regime and after a brief flirtation with democracy it ended up with Putin.
Hopefully the future holds something else for the Russian people.

No he doesn’t believe that at all he’s simply repeating what he knows to be the Kremlins lies.
If disabled Russians cannot attend the Olympics why should this Kremlin mouthpiece be able to attend FIDE tournaments.

"NATO expanded organically by other nations requesting inclusion in the alliance. There is a difference between expansion by invasion and expansion growth and it’s a very important difference for Putin’s neighbours."

Of course. But from the viewpoint of Russia, it makes no essential difference how did NATO expand at its borders. The only relevant fact is that the US missiles have become closer.

"Russia has no history of democracy in the form that most people would recognise. It went from a Tsarist to a Leninist/Stalinist regime and after a brief flirtation with democracy it ended up with Putin.

It was Ukraine, where the elected president was ousted in 2014, using the support of Western countries. It is Ukraine, where there is no freedom of journalism and freedom of speech since 2014. In Russia, the situation is much better. The Leninism was imported to Russia from Europe. Your phrase "most people" probably means "most people in your own cultural environment". The Western democracy and freedom of speech is already dead now. Putin as a Russian president is the result of the Western policy towards Russia.

Right now, 60-70% of Russian people are supporting Putin and the Ukraine war. Before the war the popularity was 60%. 10-15% are against that war and 10-15% have no firm opinion.

Russia did not "demand ...... rolling NATO back to its 1994 borders". It proposed:

"Article 4

The Russian Federation and all the Parties that were member States of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as of 27 May 1997, respectively, shall not deploy military forces and weaponry on the territory of any of the other States in Europe in addition to the forces stationed on that territory as of 27 May 1997. With the consent of all the Parties such deployments can take place in exceptional cases to eliminate a threat to security of one or more Parties."

https://mid.ru/ru/foreign_policy/rso/nato/1790803/?lang=en

This is hardly outlandish:

" From 1997 to 2014, NATO deployed virtually no troops or equipment in new member states."

" NATO now deploys, on a rotating basis, relatively small multinational battlegroups in the Baltic states and Poland."

https://www.brookings.edu/blog/order-from-chaos/2021/12/21/russias-draft-agreements-with-nato-and-the-united-states-intended-for-rejection/

This hardly seems the unreasonable deal breaker Kev acts like it is.

It is not a lie that Ukrainians have committed war crimes During the Donbas war. It is simply a fact. It is also not a lie that there are extreme nationalists dominating in Ukraine since 2014. It is simply a fact.

"...why should this Kremlin mouthpiece be able to attend FIDE tournaments."

Sports, the Olympic Games, FIDE, and other such sports events and organizations should be politically neutral by their nature. If you think that people having views corresponding to the Kremlin official views should be banned from the FIDE, then as well some other organization, FIDE2 could ban from the international competition people like you who are the White House mouthpieces (using your own uncivilized language).

I do not understand. You seem to be worried about my printing mistake 4 instead of 7. "Rolling back" is a shorthand for the corresponding exact proposals. Your comment is entirely unnecessary.
