First day back to school, I told each class about Griner's 9 year sentence, and out of 80+ students, less than 10 raised their hands, and I had to explain it to the rest.
When I asked how many of them watched the news, not one said yes.
This is grade 9-12 , and I am horrified.
By the way, this school in over 95% POC.

I'm only aware of the US and Russia talking about prisoner exchanges, as well as the less famous guy being held in a Russian prison for having medical marijuana in his luggage when he arrived in Moscow. And I read the news fairly extensively every single day.

...ah yes, there is the problem: I always skip over news about sports and athletes. Leaves more time for the stuff that matters.
