The main so-called "liberal" media have always held a soft spot for US military interventions. The NYT with Judith Miller's pieces was beating the drum for invading Saddam's Iraq for months for example.

It's somewhat predictable that some in the intelligence community are trying to cover their own posteriors by selectively leaking minority opinions, but the consensus of intelligence opinion was surely that the AA would not completely collapse in a matter of days like it did. I'm saying Biden made the correct decision to withdraw from Afghanistan.

I also think the evacuation is going as well as can be expected considering the collapse of the Afghan government and army. The US and its allies got 7800 people out in the last 24 hours. At that pace, the deadline withdrawal of August 31st is well within range (though Biden has said he'll go beyond the deadline if necessary to get all the Americans out).

But it adds little to his "authority" that he got a UK Colonel that agrees with him to be on his show.
