@no1marauder saidThe last GOPer who tried to legitimately reduce government spending and tackle entitlement spending (Paul Ryan) was laughed out of congress and labeled a RINO.
You apparently don't know that most Federal expenditures on "entitlements" goes to Social Security and Medicare.
You're complaining that I won't answer a question that you hadn't even asked? LMAO!
If States had done an adequate job funding education, we wouldn't need a Fed Dept of Ed. But they didn't, so one is desirable if not absolutely necessary.
@wildgrass saidMan you got us there. Makes me think of $50M sent to the Kennedy Center by the government out of our tax money, only $40M short of the $90M going to the Dept of Education. I think there have been some other wastes, adding up to the 90....... Makes me think of the culture taking over and ruining the Oscars. Gosh it is all so confusing.
$90 million how quaint. If you took that number and multiplied it by 500 you'd get close to the number of dollars handed out by Republicans to millionaire farmers who were already making a profit. No wonder GOP led government grows faster than Democrat led government.
I don't know Will Smith,, but I did recognize the guy in NYC who cold-cocked the cab river, hijacking the cab. Did you know Will, being a lib and all....?
@averagejoe1 saidThere you go again towing the line towards "Republicans need to legislate culture..."

Limited government. That's all I want. In terms of what's "taking over" the sad part is I have to vote for Democrats to get it.
Deep down, Republicans want a nanny state, but they just can’t bring themselves to admit it. ... Democrats generally recognize themselves to be in favor of big(ger) government and, as a corollary, generally acknowledge that they need to fund it accordingly. Republican leaders tell themselves they favor smaller government, while simultaneously demanding that government powers intervene in more and more areas of American life.
Ron DeSantis is exhibit #1.

@wildgrass saidIn the US you're fortunate to have a principled small government vote, the LP. You've fallen into lazy thinking. The No1 motivator that drives people to the polls is not to vote 'for' something but to something out. This drives the two party seesaw, in not only the US but NZ, Aus, the UK also. Of course no-one here believes there's anything small government about you or your politics that's just some baiting.
