@AverageJoe1 saidDoesn't it boggle the mind that struggling MAGA voters are happy to ration out pencils and toys for their kids school, forfeit US global dominance, and tank their own 401Ks so that billionaires can have a tax cut?
Yes, There is no question that we should continue educating people,, in pretty much the same way we have done so unerringly for 250 years. A given, Don't get your point.
@AverageJoe1 saidThen what's your point, EXACTLY? Bernie, using a definition of rights that has been enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights says that society has to ensure access to education, housing and health care, you and me approaching the issue somewhat differently still agree.
I have mentioned often, y'all change the posts/threads of others.
Witness your saying here, after ALL of these comments on Bernie sahing that all Americans have a right to housiing, health care and education..You Say......
""" Insure that eeryone in the country has ACCESS to housing, education and healthcare." (for the record, our citizens certainly SHOULD have ...[text shortened]... ch access.)
I am not going to be sm-ass and say i rest my case. Please continue your case.
So what is the OP complaining about?
@AverageJoe1 saidDo you even understand what a majority IS???
Sizeable. Is everyone getting this?? Wheels coming off
It is over 50% of something.
Trump got less than 50% of those who voted. This means he was voted in by a PLURALITY (no, I'm not defining it, go look it up!). This also means, as a matter of fact, that he was voted in by a MINORITY of people in this country.
@wildgrass saidAlso, while a 'sizable majority' of them are NOT rich themselves.
Doesn't it boggle the mind that struggling MAGA voters are happy to ration out pencils and toys for their kids school, forfeit US global dominance, and tank their own 401Ks so that billionaires can have a tax cut?
@no1marauder saidOffensive is spending money we don’t have. Libs have no concept of money. If we do it, follow me here, then my grand children will, along with USA , will be bankrupt. Are you serious? Ensure the lives of everyone?
Even assuming, for the sake of argument, that there isn't a right to housing, education or health care and that some progressives use the term "rights" more like modern conceptions like the Universal Declaration of Human Rights than the Lockean Natural Rights philosophy favored by the Founders, isn't it a good idea to insure that everyone in the country has access to hous ...[text shortened]... raised by democratically agreed on taxes, sooooooooooooooooooooo offensive to the AJs of the world?
Note your last paragraph says that the government raises this money that we spend. No, no,, marauder. It is not all raised. Billions of it is borrowed. This is what I mean, you do not understand money.
And it isNOT a good idea to support all of these people by ensuring that they have what they want, because, follow me here, they will not need to work. So if they do not work, from whence will, the government derive revenues to support them.
This is one of the best three paragraphs ever written on the forum. If you libs should understand that you might rewrite all of your paragraphs.
I predict that you will have no comeback on my post here.
@Suzianne saidTwo new words… plurality and sizable. To date, over all these years you have said that 51% would be the rule. Remember? No electoral college, winners take all …you are being quite disingenuous.
Also, while a 'sizable majority' of them are NOT rich themselves.
So when there is a vote for President of your frisbee club, which is 110 to 105, the 110 will prevail with the choice of the president. Or, would they. Would they? That is not a plurality.
@spruce112358 saidI agree with that. Give us an example of the type of right, the ones that are subjects of this thread, that is,…..the ones that Bernie says that all Americans are entitled to. (have rights to).
Laws are established by majorities. Rights are only established by MUCH bigger majorities. What’s hard to understand about that? 😆
Now we were getting somewhere!!

@spruce112358 saidBy your logic, Biden was a Rip Van Winkle. Rip could.not be a president. Left a podium early, saying he had to go to bed. Spruce.?
Just because people vote for a bag of hammers to be President, that doesn’t make it so. 😆
It means there IS no President.
It’s not hard to understand.
Hey did you see on another post, another thread, where marauder says that we should ensure that everyone has all of the stuff that we are writing about health education housing. He said the money for that would be raised. “ Raised by taxes” he says.. The majority of it would have to be borrowed from other countries. That means that our grandchildren will have no money. Would you vote for Marauder to be president?
@AverageJoe1 saidYour predictions are always dismal failures and you can't seem to make up your mind. Social welfare programs are not what has run up the national debt; excessive spending on military adventures and an unwillingness to adequately tax those who our economic system has made wealthy are. And better education and health care are investments in our most valuable resource - human beings - that has been shown over and over again to increase worker productivity.

The right wing idea that people are intrinsically lazy and worthless and will do nothing if their most basic needs are met has no basis.
@no1marauder saidI complain that Bernie said that health, education and housing are human rights. They are not. Why be so obtuse? I am right. You just wrote “ACCESS’ to these things. Yes I believe that everyone in the country who is legally here should have access to these things. That is not what Bernie said, and that is what prompted my thread.

@AverageJoe1 saidActually it's exactly what Bernie said.

Is the Constitution wrong to say you have a right to a trial by jury because other people have to serve on the jury? Please answer that question.
@no1marauder saidMy predictions fail?

I hope that you will tell everyone that you are wrong, as I predicted thatTrump would win every swing state, I predicted the number of votes in the electoral college and three others slipmy mind, and I predicted that he would be elected president. So, my predictions do not fail. Now we have that out-of-the-way.
I never said that Social Security ran up the national debt. I have said that spending money you don’t have runs up the national debt. And I found it laughable that you want to reduce the military and use the money left over to give to people. You just give them the money. You feed them you house them and you medicate them. Everybody is so happy. There are too many fairies on this forum. And socialists.
@no1marauder saidI just popped this up, and he did indeed say on many occasions that HCareis a human right.
Actually it's exactly what Bernie said.

NOW can I rest my case???? And let me get this straight, you want to raise taxes and borrow money to get money to pay for all of this, and, you also want to reduce the military, while terrorist countries are raising their production of nuclear arms. Why have I never noticed your saying that we need to reduce the national debt? Indeed, you are suggesting that we increase the national debt?
And you think that we find you fellows normal.
Actually, I KNOW why you want us to bankrupt.....so that, you can pick up the pieces and recreate a society where everyone is the same, ahhhhh,, Equal Treatment....and you can sit up on that hill.

Taxes have been reduced on the wealthy for 40 years while their share of national income has steadily increased. The military is bloated and the amount of spending on it has no relation to any real defensive needs.
It would be fairly easy to balance the budget with a few tax corrections like taxing capital gains, dividends and inheritances at regular rates. And military spending could probably be halved; abolish the Marines for one - we really don't need a force created to shoot from the rigging of ships anymore.
@no1marauder saidNow, here we have another lib example. Like when one of you says Trump is stupid. Y'all just say things as if they are a given, as if they are fact. You say here that the military is bloated, as if ,,,,it is bloated? It is?
You didn't answer my question.

You say we need to increase taxes. 1% of us, we pay 50% of all of taxes. Tell us, what would be Nirvanna to you.....1% support the rest of us? Yes, as a matter of fact, that is EXACTLY your goal. Here is a given for you. Dems LOVE taxes.
YOu and i are not qualified to say how much military we need. I say more, you say less, so that you can give money to people. We go bankrupt, or get bombed to hell , and you pick up those pieces. You can't kid a kidder. Here is Bernie saying all of his Marauder-like comments. Query: Why isnt his audience out working?
